Stayed in Rochester for one night while on a recent motorcycle trip around Vermont and had dinner at Maple Soul. I chose Rochester as my destination for the night because I spotted an inn that looked good (The Stable Inn) and because there was a good looking restaurant across the street… I always prefer to walk to dinner after checking into my room instead of getting back on the motorcycle. Obviously that restaurant was Maple Soul. Somewhat limited hours so be sure to check first. It’s dinner only, and closed 2-3 days early in the week depending on season. Food was excellent, gourmet but not intimidating. Very generous portions. I had a Caesar salad, grilled cornbread, and VT sharp cheddar mac & cheese. There are plenty of more upscale options on the menu as well, but I’m good with comfort food as long as it’s got some flair, which it did. Nice draft beer list, lots of local-ish stuff. Service was attentive and refreshingly friendly, prices reasonable, and it’s a nicely renovated building with outdoor seating when the weather is good. Definitely would recommend, and will go back to Maple Soul when in...
Read moreI visited Maple Soul with my partner while on vacation. We popped in without a reservation but they were able to find room for us at a table near the bar. Immediately we felt welcomed by Allie, who provided awesome service the entire time. We also saw a lot of community activity at the bar with both locals and tourists, which is always a plus for me. The food was truly great - we had the Tomatoes and Burrata to start, and the Fried Chicken and a Caesar Salad with Cajun Shrimp as our mains. Everything was amazingly flavorful, fresh and appropriately sized (no crazy huge servings). My partner finished with the Key Lime Pie, which she enjoyed. We also had wine and soda, all for under $100. Also, when we were leaving, there was a crazy downpour and someone there helped us get directions by sharing the restaurant's Wifi password. Overall, just an awesome experience as a visitor to Rochester and I highly recommend checking...
Read moreI’d come to Rochester again just to try different menu items. My husband and I were visiting from Texas & love all things fresh and local food. We don’t typically drink, so we had one of the botanical drinks & it was delicious. He had the ribs (and count us Texans impressed) & I had the fish and chips. The ribs were tender with great chew & the sauce was really balanced. The coleslaw (which I normally hate) was fresh, crisp, and refreshing! The French fries were the perfect size, seasoned well, and came with a delicious dipping sauce. My fish was fresh, crispy - although don’t be like me and put lemon on it too soon, I ruined the crunch - but I was still so happy 🤣
We finished off with a maple creme brulee which was creamy, not too sweet, and just enough to spilt after a great meal.
All waitstaff was really kind & helpful, we even got to chat with the chef. Was a great...
