Maricela's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Rockdale

I promise you my expectations are not high once so ever. I Walked in had to wait on someone to come to register to take my order. I sat on the butterfly bench to wait on my order but got up to use the restroom only to arrive back to the bench where they literally left my food sitting. There weren’t many people in the restaurant so I didn’t make a deal of it even though that’s very unsafe to do. Got home tasted the food, personally I’ve had way better an expected better since reviewing the reviews prior to choosing this place but I personally don’t think the food was worth returning . 1-10 I’d give the food a 4.5. The beef enchiladas were so so I personally think it lacked flavored an so did the beans and rice(considering the culture here) I also got the taco salad, it was regular/decent. I love food , an I love trying new places but I won’t be back nor will I recommend it to anyone unless they are visiting Rockdale an just want to meet up for primarily for drinks. Stopped here several times while I was working in Milano a few months ago and I was pleasantly surprised. As a Mexican, I appreciate good, authentic, Mexican cuisine and Maricela’s was just that. Fresh corn tortillas made in house!? Yes please!

Not just the tortillas are good though. All of the dishes I tried hit the spot and the prices were fair.

The service was a little bit slower than I would have liked BUT they were very busy all the time. (After eating there I understood why) lol

They also sell a variety of Mexican sweets and treats at the register.

All in all my experience here was great. We went several times a week to eat there.

We have had 4 meals at this new restaurant. Service and food has consistently been great. The prices are good considering the current economy. True TexMex dining. If you have out of town/state guest and want them to experience TexMex. This is your place!

Update: in just a few months this restaurant has gone down hill. The table settings were covered with old food, my wife’s chicken was very dry, my beef was way over cooked and rubbery. The waitress was indifferent regarding service like she didnt want to be there. They did take my wife’s plate off the bill but it took 20 minutes to get our check. What a disappointing meal. They know better but have become lazy. Off to find a new place to spend our hard earned money. A one...
