We stopped in on a whim this Saturday for lunch and some drinks. My wife and I ordered spinach and artichoke dip to share and then "The Pipefitter" burger with sweet potato fries for myself and Mac and cheese with Buffalo chicken for our her meal. The artichoke dip was good but not great. The cheese on top had been over cooked and mostly blacked when brought to us. We basically set the cheese to the side and ate the rest. My burger was OK to put in mildly. The smash patties were both on the dry side and the deep fried onions on top were so hard I had difficulty compressing the burger down enough in order to actually eat it. The sparsely used 1000 island dressing on the sandwich wasn't even a factor due to its small amount on the bun. My wife's food was absolutely delicious. The Mac and cheese were done perfectly and the Buffalo chicken was cooked just right. We both washed our meals down with captain and diet cokes that were unfortunately made with more coke than rum and didn't taste right. The only saving grave was the drinks were served in tiny glasses so we didn't have to endure it for long. Long story short, we didn't have a meal worthy of the price and can find other establishments that we'll be happier at. The location is beautiful and cleanly and the staff was both courteous and kind. It just seemed like they were badly short-handed because the tables around us were all waiting for one thing or another and the empty tables took forever to be cleared and wiped down.

It’s our anniversary and we wanted to try a new-to-us restaurant, so we chose The Olympic Tavern. We both ordered rib eye steak with shrimp. It was delicious! 💜 The garlic mashed potatoes did not taste very garlicky, but the potatoes were still very good. As were the seasonal veggies.😊 Dessert was a flourless chocolate torte - fabulous! Everyone we met was very friendly and the service was good. My only regret is that I did not request a nicer table. We spent our anniversary dinner sitting at a cafe table that was lined-up along a bench shared with multiple people. Not my favorite part of the evening.🫤 ➡️Part Two - Summertime Visit: This time we were seated on the patio and it was lovely! They have worked hard to create a beautiful outdoor space, and we enjoyed the evening weather and atmosphere. I tried the Brussel Sprout appetizer (delicious), and my husband had the fish and chips (really good as well). Our waitress was very loud spoken, but super sweet and helpful. If you haven’t been to this Rockford landmark yet, don’t hesitate!

If you’re searching for a standout dining experience in Rockford that seamlessly blends a lively bar scene, unforgettable entrées, and a burger that raises the bar, look no further than the Olympic Tavern. Nestled on the west side of Rockford, this iconic spot exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s truly unmatched. On my visit, I indulged in the bison burger, and let me tell you—it was phenomenal. The burger was cooked to perfection and packed with bold flavors, complemented by the tangy richness of blue cheese. If blue cheese isn’t your thing, don’t worry—they’re happy to serve it on the side or go light on it. But the real star of the night? The pig candy appetizer. This sweet, smoky, and downright addictive treat had us hooked from the first bite. It was the perfect blend of crispy, savory goodness, and it’s a must-try for anyone stepping through their doors. Whether you’re a foodie, a burger enthusiast, or someone just looking for an inviting spot to unwind, the Olympic Tavern delivers on all fronts. Don’t miss out!

UPDATE: 2 months ago I Personally wrote to mgr who replied below as they suggested and NEVER heard back??? I told our neighbors about our experience at Olympic and they said you get treated like second class citizen if you do not order Alcohol, based on his personal experience there. We tried...

WORST Service GOOD Food!! Only 2nd time out in 3 years for Dine In due to Covid!! First time here, heard great things. Went for dinner and it wasn't terribly busy inside. We were seated, ordered our food immediately. We did not have to wait long for food. My husband decided to have a beer so he hunted down our server for a menu to sell him a beer. He eventually got his beer and that was the last we saw of her. Couldn't tell you her name, not friendly. The table near us had a different server and that table got service. We never got checked on, NOT for water or beer! This was suppose to be a treat, esp spending money in this economy. I had fish & chips, which was good but coleslaw was way too gunky with mayo. Was I offered malt vinegar, no? My husband had his dream steak blue cheese pizza. I dislike blue cheese but was a quick convert when I tasted it! Thin crust and tasty. As we waited and waited for our check, the other servers table cleared she asked us if we wanted a box and the check. We said yes and off she was and THAN our server showed up and basically asked the same questions when i advised her the other server was taking care of it. She removed our dishes. I had a credit card to pay but decided on cash since I had no idea if we would never see her again..the entire experience was unbelievably bad and left a bad taste. I guess patrons in the patio were more important. Hard to call this a "treat" during covid. I warned you, we were patient and know how to provide service to...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Olympic Tavern and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The restaurant has a great atmosphere that is both cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a night out with friends or family.

But what really stood out to me was the incredible fish fry they served. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with a crispy exterior and tender, flaky interior. The portion size was generous and came with a variety of sides that were all delicious. It was hands down one of the best fish fries I've ever had.

In addition to the fantastic food, the drink selection at The Olympic Tavern is also impressive. They have a great variety of craft beers, wines, and cocktails, so there is something for everyone. The staff is knowledgeable about the selection and happy to make recommendations.

Beyond the food and drink, the service was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure that our experience was enjoyable from start to finish.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Olympic Tavern to anyone looking for a great meal and a great time. The fish fry is a must-try, but everything on the menu is sure to satisfy. The combination of great food, drink, and service makes this restaurant a true gem...
