I recently had an amazing dining experience at Mima's Cuban Cafe in Rockland, Massachusetts, and I can't stop talking about it! From the second I walked in, I was struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and friendly hellos, making me feel like I was visiting an old friend rather than just another restaurant. It’s those little touches that really lift a dining experience to a whole new level!
When I looked at the menu, I was blown away by the variety of options—each one more mouthwatering than the last. The flavors of Cuban cuisine were truly alive here, with authentic spices inviting you to explore. But one dish instantly grabbed my attention: the Traditional Cuban sandwich. Oh my goodness, it’s more than just a sandwich; it’s a flavorful masterpiece! It features mouth-watering braised family pork, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and mustard, all perfectly pressed between slices of pan Cubano. Every bite was a delightful explosion of flavor that had my taste buds dancing with joy!
And let me tell you, that sandwich was just the beginning! I also got to try the empanadas, which were absolutely spectacular. The flaky crust was so light and crispy, and the savory fillings were bursting with incredible flavors. Each bite revealed new layers of deliciousness, leaving me completely hooked. But the highlight of my meal? The Mima'z Monte Cristo! It’s a fantastic twist on a classic that I can’t recommend highly enough; it truly left a lasting impression on me.
What really sets Mima's Cuban Cafe apart is their steadfast commitment to freshness. You can tell this isn't one of those fast-food joints where everything is prepped in bulk. Every dish is made fresh to order, ensuring that what you’re eating is top-notch and prepared with love. The passion they put into their food shines through in every single bite—something that’s hard to come by in today’s fast-paced world!

It feels like you’re experiencing a little slice of Miami right here in New England! They’ve been serving up deliciousness for over a year now, and their presence is a true blessing for Rockland and the surrounding towns. The warm atmosphere, diverse and delicious menu, and a staff that genuinely cares about your experience made my visit unforgettable. I’m already looking forward to my next trip to discover even more of their delights. You absolutely have to treat yourself and visit soon—you won’t regret it!
And can we talk about their incredible selection of authentic Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican juices? They offer an impressive array, including mango, papaya, guanabana (soursop), pineapple, passion fruit, and mixed berry. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even go for a combination of all these fantastic flavors—what a vibrant and refreshing way to elevate your meal!
Oh, and I can’t forget about dessert! The Flan at Mima's is a must-try; it's this rich and creamy Spanish custard that’s simply divine. The silky texture paired with the caramel topping makes for a perfect ending to any meal.
And then there’s the Tres Leches Yellow Cake! This moist sponge cake soaked in a luscious mix of three types of milk, topped with a fluffy layer of whipped cream, is just heavenly. Each bite melts in your mouth and delivers the perfect sweet, rich finale to your dining experience. So trust me, save room for these delightful desserts—they're the cherry on top of an already incredible meal!

Read moreBest value on the south shore and you can’t find Cuban food like this anywhere else in New England. Full stop. So we just got back from our first trip to Mima‘s and holy smokes were we blown away. This amazing family from Brockton has created this magical transport to Cuba, Guatemala, and Puerto Rico all under one roof. The flavors are so authentic. The portions are incredibly generous. The service is world class. Imagine going to your family friends home and just being showered with generosity and love. That’s how this feels when you step in there. The owner Abby sent us samples of other things on the menu because we were curious about them and didn’t charge us. She wanted us to have the best experience possible. They offered to give us more beans at the end of service because we had run out. It just feels like you are in your grandma‘s house and she is piling the food on and it’s incredibly high-quality and made with so much love. My husband absolutely loves Cuban sandwiches and we have been all over the country trying different Cubans. Of course we’ve been to Miami and had some of the best Cubans that Miami has to offer. My husband was blown away by this Cuban. The pork was tender, the flavors were on point, the bread was crispy, everything was perfect. We were absolutely blown away by the pork entrée. Lechon/Braised Pork entree - it is slow marinated for five days and then very slow roasted. It falls right apart when you put it in your mouth, but then it has these delicious pockets of fat and it’s so succulent. What an amazing place. The inside of the restaurant is cheerful and bright, and the music is festive and fun. We had so much fun inside of this restaurant on a Friday night. It felt like we were in a little Havana family restaurant. What an awesome experience. We will be back. Also do not sleep on the desserts. The desserts...
Read moreDelightful treat to the Caribbean, north of the border on the south shore in Rockland Massachusetts. If you like Dona Habana or Vejigante Restaurants then move over, Mima’s Cuban Cafe has our vote by far. “The Best!” The real deal! True Caribbean cuisine and flavors without the big price with hearty plates full.
As you walk into the restaurant, it has the feel of an authentic Caribbean island restaurant with the festive decor, well lit, clean with sounds latin music. Greeted by the owner with a friendly smile, she sat us at the nearest available table. Menu has an excellent variety of entrees and appetizers. There are so many items we wanted to order and try. We ordered the empanada and pincho combo with tostones, rice and beans for sides. The other plate, lechon (extra crispy skin) with maduros and yuca con mojo. Even better accompanied with Mimas Special Sauce, cilantro aioli, spicy guava boom and Mimas mambo sauce. All the dishes were delicious as they were but a dash of any of their sauces puts them over the top. Flan for dessert was also good. All perfectly prepared, mighty delicious and plenty to share. Very succulently tasty especially the extra crispy skin. Highly recommend. Definitely returning to try the other items on their...
