While I can’t comment on the food as we opted not to eat there, we were put off by the proprietor’s demeanor for us asking (albeit we hadn’t ordered, restaurant had yet to open, but were in absolute dire straits) to use the bathroom for our 4yo. As I’m sure any parent can attest to, when a “4yo’s gotta go, she has to go...” and, certainly there is an obvious hesitation to knock on the door (of a within-minutes-to-open diner). But if a place is truly “kid friendly” according to their claim- you think one has a good chance of some reasonable accommodation, to use the outdoor bathroom, and not have to enter the interior premises. While the kitchen staff individual was sympathetic, not so with what appeared to be management. Just a stiff, tight-lipped, visibly-annoyed and frowning non-eye acknowledging “mm-hmm”...both on the way in, and out, despite the thank you’s from myself and my daughter. Little did she know we had intentions on eating there, and had she been “just” a little more empathetic- could that have not translated into a better-than-average tip, and more importantly, a great review, especially in today’s age where restaurants have gone under? We would likely have had a great lunch- but we passed for another great lobster shack- amazing-after all, lobster rolls are a-plenty out here. Thanks for a...
Read moreI came here one afternoon after visiting Rockport. I was looking for a lobster roll, and really enjoyed this one. It’s right on the water and is a cool little restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the rocks and water. You order inside, and they give you a buzzer, which vibrates when your food is ready for pick up. The lobster roll, which I have included a photo of below, was fantastic and definitely New England style with mayo mixed in. Good amount of fries as well. I got a side of coleslaw also, which was fantastic. Definitely one of my favourite lobster rolls in the New England area so far. The menu is extensive, the staff friendly and service prompt.
EDIT: I came back about a week later when my family came to town to visit and we found ourselves in the Rockport area with my dad looking for an authentic New England lobster roll. I only had one place in mind, the lobster pool! I took them all here and we had a blast. The food was again fantastic, really fast once you order and take the buzzer to your table. This time we got salads, which were massive, look at the photos below. All of the food was 10/10. Will definitely recommend this to others in the area looking for, New England seafood, and will be...
Read moreI love the Lobster Pool! They are located right along the ocean in beautiful Rockport! It's a hidden gem and I come here as soon as the weather gets nice and try to come back again and again
They have amazing seafood like lobster, mussels, fish and chips, and little necks, and the sided are just as great: Cole slaw, french fries, corn. Even the tartar sauce is amazing! And they are consistently delicious, I always have a great experience. It's a small place with a huge presence in Rockport!
There's plenty of seating inside and out, it's BYOB, and we even bring our dogs! It's wonderful in the afternoon, and even more beautiful in the evening watching the sun set right over the water.
There are so many great things about this place! The ambience is beautiful. And all types of people are welcome, couples, families, groups of friends. There a really good kids menu for the picky eater, and even veggie burgers.
One of the best parts is on weekend just after sundown: They start a bonfire right by the water and everything you need to make a delicious s’mores! It's totally free and kids and adults alike LOVE IT!
The Lobster Pool gets my vote as the best seafood spot around. I absolutely love...
