Drove past here early in the morning, for our grandson, & son in law’s motor cross races this past Sunday, Son In Law raved about this place, on how good it was, & we should stop by here for lunch after, so we did..tired, hot, & hungry, they greeted us, & put us in a corner booth. Not very busy, maybe 3 or 4 tables already there, that had their food. We looked over the menu, & had decided on what we were getting (still waiting for someone to even ask us what we wanted to drink) our grandson was so excited about what he was going to order..waited, & waited, for at least 10/15 minutes (or longer) as waitresses were talking to the other customers in there, & there was at least 3 or 4 of them walking around, or standing at the front counter, & not one, stopped at our table. So we decided to go somewhere else to eat, & the girl at the front, even told us to have a nice day 😡 knowing we hadn’t even got waited on (she was the one that seated us) Terrible service, or lack of.. & usually I only give good reviews to places. Lost...

We had a lovely breakfast, however I thought I would clarify the one-star review from an earlier poster. Her objection was to the "Confederate Skillet" and also possibly to the "Gypsy Skillet". Both are names likely to offend folks from areas with more diverse populations. While the confederacy is still viewed with some nostalgia in all-white communities in the south and southern Midwest, to everyone else it is associated very strongly with slavery and slave holding, and using the term as a cute name will make people think you are racist. Please consider updating these names.

Otherwise it was a delicious meal with excellent service!

Edit: Just saw the owners reply, and I wanted to clarify that I didn't think you were racist, I think the names of a few items are outdated and offensive and should be updated because it will make people think you are. Sometimes the effect is as important as the intent. Maybe ask your diverse staff if they think you should update the names. You might be surprised. All the...

Just stop by there today and had cabbage and corn beef, it came with no skin of bake potato and steamed carrots and a 1/4 wedge of cabbage, the only thing I can say that was okay about my meal would be the corn beef. The cabbage was boiled or steamed soaking wet and not any flavor. The potato had a little paprika sprinkled on it with no other flavor, no butter, bacon, sour cream, cheese nothing to help out with it. Lets clear this up i did not want a load baked potatoe but did want something that tasted much better than I got, the steamed carrots was pretty good for coming out of a can. We also got sweet tea but it was pretty much sweetened water. I also got a piece of cake to go and it was very dry with little to no flavor. I will not be stopping by here again. Also lack of cleaning at this place. All the light fixtures that's on there walls have very thick dust bunny's on them. This is a place that serves food at least try to take pride in at least one thing. Would not recommend this...

We went here Sunday, 9/17/23, for breakfast. We really wanted some good breakfast, so we decided to go to Benjamin's Family Restaurant and let me say, "We LOVED it!" I feel bad for not finding out our waitress name. She was a tiny little lady with black glasses on, and her hair was tied up with a silver clip. She was experienced and knew what she was doing. Great customer service, which is rare these days. For the food.... There were 3 of us. I ordered biscuits & and gravy with hashbrowns. My other half ordered the sirloin steak with eggs and hashbrowns. Our daughter ordered French toast. It was a pretty quiet breakfast between the 3 of us other than asking each other if the food was good. It. Was. Delicious!!! I will definitely be returning to try some other dishes they offer!

Place was packed when I got here, but I was seated right away. Waitress got my drink promptly and got my order. Even with a mix-up with the kitchen on what order to bring my food out, my food arrived faster than I expected (between 5 and 10 minutes. ) Cottage cheese was DELICIOUS, tater tots were perfectly cooked, and the tenderloin was HUGE and as good as any at home! I foolishly got the platter and an appetizer of mozzarella sticks. I only finished half of the sticks, and took the majority of the tenderloin to go. Everything was delicious and served quickly. I couldn't have asked for better service staff!

FYI, if you are looking for this place, you want to look for the sign that says Pastime Cafe, not Benjamins. We came here while in the area for hiking at turkey Run. This is a good, standard American breakfast place. I thought it was good, but maybe not the best I've ever had. And we didn't see our waitress too often, but the other waitresses were always around, filling up coffee cups. So hopefully they share tips but I don't know. It's a small place and pretty cramped, but I think that's a good sign that it's a good small town place. 😁
