I normally frequent Casa Mia at the Hawthorn, but decided to try this location since they have a DJ on Fridays & the happy hour menu is more extensive & still has the lobster rolls listed. The restaurant is practically on the golf course, which could have potential for great views & entertainment if dining in dinner area. However, I opted to sit at the bar, which also do at the Hawthorn. When entering, it is evident, the bar area is drastically smaller than the Newington location. The DJ is set up against the wall. The "dance floor" may hold 3-4 dancing people at a time. When a couple was salsa'ing, they're wasn't room for anyone else. This is was pretty disappointing. Sitting at the bar is comfortable & inviting. With there not being many patrons in the earlier part of happy hour, the bartenders were attentive & chatty without being overbearing. They put in the orders quickly & brought them out just as fast. I ordered a few dishes, including the lamb chops, meatball, mussels, & burger sliders. My counter parts didn't indulge as much & stuck to the lobster sliders. I have to say I was impressed by the size of the sliders. At Hawthorns, they serve smaller versions, true slider size. These are medium size. Not quite a slider & not quite a full size burger. The other difference is, Hawthorn serves 3 & Green serves 2. Additionally, Green's sliders (burger & lobster) had a slight kick to them, which I wasn't expecting, nor desired. So it all depends on the diner's preference to decide who won that battle. The lamb isn't option at Hawthorn, so I was delighted to have them here. They were cooked to perfect medium temperature & again, there was some spice. The meatball, cooked nicely, no pink, tender & juicy. Yet again, there was some heat. I absolutely love mussels. The menu did warn of spiceyl so I was ready this time. They were absolutely delish! The portion was definitely satisfying. However, I did notice, I wasn't given a separate bowl to put the shells, which is standard when eating muscles. Therefore, I was strategically stacking them on a saucer. You'd think the bartender would acknowledge the struggle & offer a bowl, but that didn't happen. The drinks we ordered were all made correctly & we received a nice poor. Once the restaurant started getting busy, the service did take a hit, which is understandable. One drink was made incorrectly. Also, the bartenders or the computer is strict with the happy hour end time of 6p. Additionally, well tequila shots are $8! That was a blow to the gut. We stayed from 5-9:30p to get a a taste of the DJ. In that 30mins, Spanish music was played the majority of the time. Like the Hawthorn, the crowd is the mature/wiser group & like Hawthorn, the patrons did dance, but they had to take turns, since there isn't much room. The music selection tmay be what the regulars like to hear & what gets them moving. In conclusion, I probably won't be back to this specific location. It is a nice, friendly environment, but with the space being small & nearly every dish being overly spicy, it's a...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for Valentines Day, when we got there the manager gave us paper menus for “Valentine’s Day special” our waiter said we were only allowed to order from that menu. We had seen the special menu on the website before hand but was not informed it was the only menu we could order from. It was $120 per couple for only a few options of dinner not including the drinks. Everything on the menu had seafood which I cannot have, we told our waiter this and he said he would ask the kitchen if they can do something else. After debating spending $120 on food we do not want to eat my boyfriend and I decided to send the appetizers back and pay for the drinks (mind you, the drinks took 20 minutes to come out) We were extremely polite and kept our volume down not to interrupt other diners. This apparently pissed off the manager who then came over and said “what’s the problem” in a stuck up nasty tone. We then explained our situation and how we will pay for the drinks. He then said “what are you gonna do, go somewhere else?” Acting like that was the most obscene thing on the planet. He then walked off and grabbed a normal menu and said “Do you want to order from this or go somewhere else, cause you’re not gonna find anywhere else to go tonight” which he didn’t know I had already called somewhere else to make sure there’s somewhere for us to enjoy our Valentine’s Day instead of being pressured to pay $120 for food we will not eat. I would have been fine with the offer of the regular menu, except his rude and uncalled for comment about us not being able to find somewhere else to eat like his establishment was the last place on earth for dinner on Valentine’s Day. The kicker of all of this was when we got the bill for the drinks they charged us $7 for a “custom item” my boyfriend and I got one drink each which was already listen on the bill. Being hungry and extremely irritated with the managers bad attitude, we paid the bill and the “custom item” and decided to leave without looking back. I have never had such horrid experience at a “fine dining” establishment. I have worked for fine dining restaurants in the past and I will say this doesn’t meet the mark of fine dining at all. Outdated decor and clearly a manager that should retire or find a new career path, he has no communication skills to be working in this industry. Shame on the management and people who put up with this poor excuse of a...
Read moreOn August 26th, at 12:50 am, I wish to express my ongoing experience with this establishment. Over the past two years, I have frequented this establishment sporadically and initially found their service to be satisfactory. However, after expressing my personal opinion currently to date, I encountered a concerning incident wherein I was threatened with expulsion from the premises and the prospect of involving law enforcement was raised. I possess video evidence that supports this claim that made me feel unsafe at that current moment and documented the interaction.
Subsequent to this incident, I observed an inexplicable shift in the staff's attitude towards me. Despite my loyalty as a military veteran who has consistently supported their business by bringing along friends and family, I found myself isolated. The establishment suffers from a shortage of bartenders, resulting in protracted wait times for beverages. The restroom facilities designated for women were consistently inadequately maintained, which was particularly noticeable due to their public accessibility.
Moreover, the establishment's DJ and staff seems entrenched in a time period defined by outdated musical choices, with an unchanging playlist primarily spanning Latin, 70s, 80s, and 90s genres, occasionally featuring a minimal selection from the 2000s. The repetitiveness of the DJ's set on Fridays and Saturdays further contributes to a sense of stagnation.
It is essential to mention that the pricing of drinks within the establishment is notably steep. Overall, the cumulative experience conveys a misleading impression, and it appears that a sense of welcome is not extended uniformly to...
