Let me start off by saying when first booking this caterer I took noted on everything we ate and discussed because I like to do my due diligence and make sure that I am on top if the things I need to do. When meeting with Gerard and doing our tastings we went over rentals and the food itself of course. Originally we were told that we would be reached out to 2 weeks prior to our wedding for our final count and any last minute planning. NEVER done, I had to actually reach out and nobody reached out to me until 5 days prior.
I booked a year in advance and during that process was advised to email/speak with the coordinator Andrew in regards to any questions and during those times I spoke to him in regards to what I needed ro rent and what Sally Tomatoes would provide. Per our email chains Sally Tomatoes was ro provide our bread baskets and utensils for the dessert provided along with water and coffee.
We had also sent over our rentals checklist over to Sally tomatoes' coordinator who said we HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. Since our venue allowed us to provide alcohol we also provided clear plastic cups which we provided over 7000 cups for 100 people (still brought home 2 packs of cups which was 300 left over)
The day of our wedding, me the bride and the groom were not provided what we PAID for. No bread was provided to us and the minimal amount of bread was provided to our tables on ransom plates, not bread baskets as told in our email chain. Water was not served to our guests because they took our water cups and used them as cocktail cups. And then they told our guests to go get water.
GERARD will also tell you they pack food for people to take to go which they absolutely DO NOT. Apparently they can only pack for the bride and groom and they didn't pack anything for us.
The desserts were never passed out to our tables and my Mother found them sitting in the kitchen at 9pm never served at 630 as they were supposed to be.
I spoke with Gerard who had said he would compensate for the desserts and whatever I wanted only for him to email me the next day and come up with a whole bunch of excuses such as: we didn't have forks for desserts, we didn't have cups, and telling me we all had bread. Me as the BRIDE can attest we didn't have that and I have pictures to prove that.
He was also extremely unprofessional talking about terminating people over the phone when that is not what conversation was about. It was about what we didn't get for what we PAID FOR.
Also, apparently the bartender provided puts out their own tip jar (not an issue) but stated the party tipped just $120 when that was also a LIE because I put in $100 myself for my guests and there was tons of $20s in his jar along with his request for my guests to venmo.
Gerard customer service is trash and if your venue offers this caterer, I would choose any other one. Thanks Sally Tomatoes for making us feel like we were just on the back burner for our special day and not providing what...
Read moreWe used Sally Tomatoes catering for our wedding, and while the food was very good, we were really disappointed in the service.
During the planning process, we were instructed to ensure our centerpieces allowed room for food platters to be placed on the tables (we had a family style dinner) - however, the service was so slow and there was so much time in between courses that multiple platters on the table were not even needed. After dinner, dirty plates and platters sat on the tables for ages, and our coordinator had to ask the staff to clear the tables 3 times before anything was cleaned up.
Additionally, we were also told during the planning process that our signature cocktails needed to be cocktails that could be batched to ensure quick and smooth service at the bar. The cocktails were approved by the owner before the wedding, so we were surprised to learn that the bartenders did not batch the cocktails ahead of time, and prepared the drinks single serving, which made the wait at the bar very long for our guests.
The rep from Sally Tomatoes who was on site to manage the event told our coordinator that they were overbooked and short staffed that day due to booking more weddings than they typically do in a single day, so that explains the slow service.
When we called the owner to (kindly) express our concerns after the wedding, we were met with defensiveness and an unwillingness to hear any of the feedback we had.
Overall, while their pricing was the most reasonable of all the caterers we reached out to, I would recommend paying a little more to hopefully received better service on your...
Read moreSally Tomatoes will block those of us on Facebook who leave a comment about a negative experience at their establishment. They also turn off comments on event postings after people leave negative comments. Not a good look Sally Tomatoes! A good local establishment should be looking to regain those of us who spend our hard earned money at their events, I'll never attend another one that's for sure!
The Mother's Day Brunch was not what we expected! The staff seemed overwhelmed and the food was cold at the 12:30 seating. The containers of ice cream were melting at the desert table and the surrounding scoopers and toppings were a mess. Storage room doors were wide open and the mess inside was visible to customers. We had to walk through people lined up for drinks to get to the food. The setup was inconvenient not to mention the lines to order a drink! The recent Yelp reviews seem staged by ownership and to good to be true unless the early morning seatings were spectacular compared to those of us arriving after 12! The owner's response on Joelle's review should be enough to tell the truth behind Sally Tomatoes...
