I love this place. My dad is a patron here. I am a Chicago fan, and this is a true Chicago bar. Owned by THE Steve "Mongo" McMichael of the 85 Bears (If you don't know who or what I'm talking about, then please stop what you're doing, watch ESPNs 30 for 30 on the 85 Bears and then proceed with the remainder of the review). It has a great, fun, atmosphere with a sports and dive fusion. Drafts, tvs, specials, and food. Plus, you might even catch a glimpse of McMichael's himself, always kind enough to talk, sign autographs, and take photos. The reason I am giving 3 stars, is the service. There is a long auburned hair bartender who is absolutely fabulous! She was attentive, fun, and just wonderful, so she is excluded from the rest of the review. I went to Mongo's for the NLCS Game 6 between Cubs and Dodgers. This is not only a historical Chicago team, but a true historical event for Chicago, and the Chicago fans. We received pretty good service from a male bartender, but that was it. 2 drink orders and my party was completely ignored the remainder of the evening. I heard a bartender tell a customer, "As soon as you all leave, I'm shutting this down amd getting out of here." No one acknowledged us for another hour until we started putting our coats on. It was 10:30 pm on Saturday, and the Cubs just won the NLCS. I was so disappointed. I love Mongos! I hope this issue is a one time thing...
Read moreWe have tried this place twice and wonât be going back. First time was right after opening so we expected it to be a little rocky, and it was. Bartender didnât know how to make mix drinks so we settled on bourbon and cokes. Soda was flat, food was nothing special and we agreed not to come back. Fast forward many months and we thought we should give it another chance now that it has been open for a bit. Same experience, drinks took forever, pizza was under cooked. The pizza delivered to the people next to us was also undercooked and they sent it back, we were in a hurry so didnât. Cheese on pizza seems really cheap, shiny, and oily. Veggies were all charred, but the pizza undercooked so you can tell itâs all pre cooked toppings they slop on the premade crust and then melt it all. Considering the nearby places with top notch pizza this place should really UP its pizza game. Old Fashionedâs were super tiny, overly sugary, and over priced. The food here is really not good, which is a shame as the venue is a comfortable spot. There are much better options nearby with much much...
Read moreI had to see Lamar Jackson do his thing today. It was must - see TV. Great football đ game. He finally played a playoff game like WE ALL knew he could. Good job Lamar ! I had a taste for spaghetti and cheese bread. So I found this place on the Google search and it was super NICE. Really Friendly people and super courteous staff and waitress serving me soooooooooo GOOD. Mostly white people there, but the people treated me so nice I almost forgot I was Black. Hahaha đ. Ok. Bad joke. đ But the service was EXCELLENT and FAST. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and pizza bread and the food was DELICIOUS. I love ALL people, and I love it when people show me that same love. Seems like a GREAT place to Eat and watch some Sports with friends and family. I will definitely come back in the future. Thank You for the Great service and Great food you gave me. I was tired, and I wasn't feeling too good. I had just finished working, and you guys really picked me up. Thank You for that. ...
