I'm not exactly sure what happened here. I'm not one who usually writes reviews about food at restaurants, being a chef myself and knowing what it takes to run a kitchen. Now I know it's the Firehouse and I know they have never claimed to be gourmet. But I do know that the kitchen was producing solid food for what they were. I recently had a complete knee replacement so standing and cooking are mostly out of the question for the moment. My wife, on her way home, from a ten hour day decided to pick up dinner. We discussed, I placed the order. Mind you, again, solid food up till this night. My wife had ordered herself a 10 Oz sirloin, medium rare fries and slaw. Simple. The Steak, cooked to a perfect, fine Italian leather, chewey yet dry. And probably weighed in at 5 Oz. Fries were extremely cold, and under flavored Cole slaw. For myself, I decided to go with the fried grouper sandwich and fries. Again, simple. The grouper sandwich from before, as I remember, was a bigger than their big bun kinda sandwich that you would have to cut it in half in order to negotiate how to eat it. My sandwich on this night however was put on a cheap hotdog bun. The fish itself was what appeared to be a 4 Oz filet with some sort of soggy breading. Then topped with what seemed to be steamed lettuce and grilled tomatoes. Very disappointed. At least the lady who answered the phone was polite and kind. Unless they can figure it out, I can't justify spending anymore money or time into this establishment. Shame too, seeing how there is no good food in...
Read moreThey dropped the ball big time on this one.... I have been here about 4-5 times. We mostly go to Firehouse in Tallmadge because it is closer. Since we enjoyed this place the previous times, We brought other family members with us.. Told them the food was great and good place. My wife ordered chicken tenders.... They looked like you guys bought them from Save a lot... Not good at all... Menu said $12.99.. I got the check, and was charged $14.99. Plus $1.99 upgrade for onion rings. I asked what was going on, she said their prices fluctuate. Supply and demand! Now I have just overpaid for some Save a lot tenders... And she did not finish them because she did not like them. My wife's go to food at restaurants are chicken tenders. So, if she didn't finish them, there must have been an issue.. The kids ordered boneless wings.... Actually more like chicken nuggets or little chicken popper bites...... Rip off on those! Then, I told my dad that I was over charged, and he said he was too! He said he ordered a burger. No add ons, nothing special about it. The menu said one price, but his check said $16.99 for a burger w/ fries. WOW! Fluctuation again?? If this is the case, do not put the price on the menu. People look at prices on food as well as what they want to eat.. Also, $9.50 for a tall medium shelf long Island??? I'll let this one slide... Like I stated previously, the previous times were fine... From now on, we are gonna just stick with the Tallmadge Firehouse. Better...
Read moreIn all my visits to all the multitudes of fire houses, this was hands-down, the worst experience ever. Setting aside the fact that the wings were so overcooked they were almost carbonized, and the fact plain wings with ranch as the sauce incurs a surcharge because it was on the side. Server was as sweet as can be but the cook should be retrained, near 30 bucks for 18 wings that I could hold in the palm of my hand. Two adults, two children, one young enough to have a happy meal from McDonald’s one appetizer one salad and 18 wings 60 bucks. TO MGMT (Response) - HA - your wings are more expensive than BW-3 as they include sauces and ranch - and everyone knows they are the MOST EXPENSIVE, period. You are not even in the same league as Longhorn (15 bucks for 12 WITH ranch) and couldn't touch Wingstop, Pub (Kent), an so on. This is, of course - setting aside the fact of how horribly small and overcooked they were. Enjoy the 'reasonable' fee you charged me - it will never happen again. BTW - Great ELECTION year speech. Shame Tony isn't involved anymore - this would never have happened on his watch. Anyone even thinking of "eating here" (its a great local bar for those local) - make the trek to Talmadge circle - this kind of attitude is NOT...
