If I could give 6 stars, I would.
I’m shocked to see such quality in a restaraunt here in Rosamond. There’s some good eats in this town, but this place really stands apart from all the rest.
As soon as I walked through the door I felt as though I had teleported to a fancy Japanese joint in LA. The decor in here is clean, intriguing and very welcoming. The music is playing at the perfect volume, the lighting is just right, and the service from the employees is exceptional.
I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and Lemon Salmon Roll. I am a SUCKER for good noodles and fresh fish. I’ve been to at least half of LA’s Ramen establishments, from Mid City to Little Tokyo and I’ve frequented Kansuii Ramen many a time in Westlake Village as well, Kansuii being my all time favorite. No other ramen joint has come close to Kansuii Ramen until I tried this spot here in town.
The noodles here are the perfect thickness and you can tell they’re made in house, they’re perfectly al dente and have a good flavor to them. I could eat these noodles on their own, honestly. The broth is full of flavor. I rarely clean my bowl, but I nearly licked my bowl clean with this. They are not stingy with the toppings, and the toppings are fresh. The pork was tender and they were not stingy with that either. As far as the soft boiled marinated egg, it was admittedly over boiled for my liking, as I love a runny/creamy yolk. But it was still delicious nonetheless.
These folks know how to make a hell of a lemon salmon roll. Besides Goldfish in Palmdale, many places can’t get the perfect thickness without the lemon overwhelming the rest of the roll. Here, the lemon slices were almost translucent, they did a tremendous job on that. The perfect combinatoon of zest on a fresh, fatty slice of salmon.
I will be coming here at least 2x a month to satisfy my ramen and sushi cravings. If you haven’t tried this place out yet, DO IT!! Oh, they also deliver...
Read moreThe sushi itself was good. I ordered spicy edamame, tuna taki, and lemon salmon roll. My daughter ordered the 3-item bento box, which clearly includes rice, miso soup, salad, and two potstickers, plus two or three items of your choice. She chose 3 items ..pork katsu, mixed tempura, and a California roll.
When the food arrived, her bento box only had pork katsu, potstickers, salad, and the roll. No tempura, rice, or miso. When I asked about the missing tempura, our waiter told me that the potstickers counted as the third item. That didn’t make sense because the menu says they’re already included. He offered to bring the tempura after realizing the mix-up, but insisted that potstickers was the third item. He looked at box like I can switch the pot stickers out for tempura but since my daughter had already started eating one, I told him not to worry about it.
Then I mentioned that her miso soup and rice were missing. He said he’d bring them, but we waited over 15 minutes. When he checked on us again, we were still waiting, he finally brought the rice and miso a few minutes later. Her pork katsu was cold and she didn’t want to eat it . By then, the experience was frustrating.
When I got the check, it showed I was charged for the full 3-item bento. He said ok and I assumed he fixed it, returned with my card charged, and said so the 3 items is pot stickers. I politely explained that my daughter only received two items, but the waiter insisted the potstickers were the third. I even showed him the menu, and he said he was confused. Or maybe I confused him, not sure. At that point, I gave up and I told him to just keep it. It was just two or three dollar difference but that wasn’t point. To be honest I was so mad I didn’t tip and left all food remaining food on table. Which I feel bad now. The food was fine, but the service and handling of the situation left a bad impression. I don’t think I...
Read moreFirst time at this newly opened restaurant (at time of writing this).
Upon entering the first thing you’ll notice is that the interior looks absolutely wonderful. There is a nice sushi counter, a couple of booths and tables set under paper lanterns and Sakura inspired decorations. We were greeted and seated with a friendly smile and given menus.
Our drinks came immediately while we were given a chance to look over the ample food options. Aside from Ramen, there are rice bowl options, sushi, sashimi and bento combinations available. Since we were in the mood for Ramen we ended up ordering one order with tonkatsu broth and one shoyu broth.
Both of our bowls came out quickly and piping hot. Make sure you bring a big appetite because the bowls are large.
The ramen bowls came with egg, chashu pork, Nori, corn, black garlic, bamboo shoots and wakame.
My shoyu broth was absolutely wonderful. A nice, deep soy sauce flavor full of umami that supported the chewy and thin style ramen noodles nicely. The chashu was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful. The egg had a good marinade flavor. Personally prefer a more soft boiled egg but the hard boiled egg was fine taste and texture wise.
The tonkatsu broth had a nice mouthfeel and a rich, pork broth flavor and the touch of garlic was appreciated.
On a side note, the chopsticks were of a nice quality (not the cheap break apart type) as well as the to-go containers (we wanted to sample different broths but really there is enough food for two people to share lunch).
(They are open for lunch and dinner but not all day long so check...
