We don’t go out to eat very often but decided to eat here last night for my husband’s birthday.. we should’ve just stayed home! I ordered the fried chicken w/roasted veggies ($29.12) veggies were way too oily and mashed potatoes w/ chicken gravy that tasted like stale gravy; couldn’t tell if it came out of the box or just stale.. same with my husbands dinner which was the Ribeye steak dinner ($60.32)!!!!! WOW.. the steak was great but veggies were drenched in oil and gravy tasted strange he also ordered a dinner salad which for a basic salad should not cost $9.36! since we didn’t eat most of our very expensive dinner we decided to try desert. I ordered a tiny 2” key lime pie they charged $9.36 for and it was disgusting!! who ever made them dumped way too much lime flavoring into it, it was so strong the lime juice burned my tongue & didn’t taste anything else..hubby ordered the giant nutter butter cookie which cost us $11.44!!! are you SERIOUS???? Had we known the prices for the desserts we would’ve skipped on them but they are not listed on the menu so didn’t know until the bill came! So for 2 people to go eat dinner at a cafe style restaurant cost us $134.91 before tip!!! Wow!! Am I living under a rock? Should a dinner for 2 cost this much? Is this because of SUNCADIA?? Is it so they can make up the money they spent on opening the bed n breakfast upstairs? Donno but doubt we will be back.. I’ll just cook these menu items myself, I’m sure my gravy will taste...

One of those experiences where you are annoyed when you leave because you were so excited to give the place a try. We were a party of 2 with one other group dining in. It wasn't busy and they seemed staffed well. We started with ordering 2 cocktails along with an app. Our cocktails didn't come out til after our entrees did 30 minutes later. When we asked where they were there was no apology just an excuse she had a complicated order to put in and it's coming. Next.. our meals --Husband said his meal was good but definitely not worth the money. I had a chicken Caesar and chicken was so dry and bland. I was surprised because chicken caesar is difficult to mess up. We ordered calamari for an app and that was yummy. Yay for the calamari. Was our meal worth $100+? No. Absolutely not. Especially not when the place charges what they do for sub par food and servers who are dressed like it is a bar with zero interest in providing customer service or a smile. Bottom line. We could have ordered a min of 2 more rounds of cocktails if we were just asked if we needed anything.

Cute place. But overpriced and not worth it one bit. On the other hand, an extra star than I wanted to give because the...

I acknowledge how difficult it must be for restaurants trying to survive covid restrictions. HOWEVER, this spot has decided to do everything they can to get around the rules and are putting the public in danger. With an ideal set-up for outdoor dining (an room with 4 garage style doors that can be opened to form an outdoor covered space) they have opted to keep the doors closed. When I arrived one of the doors was cracked a couple of inches and I asked to open another for air flow. Multiple times during my visit I had to reopen the door to get any air ino the space. The manager closed the door multiple times saying that is was cold. I was polite to the manager but expressed my concerns. She was not wearing her mask over her nose while she worked and when I questioned the air flow she asked me if I was a local, twice. Here questions were political in nature and felt discriminatory. The meal itself was very nice and the wait staff were very friendly. That was all overshadowed by the restaurant clearly avoiding health related...

Oh my gosh the new owners are awesome. They have decorated it uniquely, vey cute, and functional I just loved it. The tables and bar area have little hooks to hang your purse. That was so clever I was amazed. There's outside seating on the deck too. They have an espresso bar and I hear on June 22nd they will start serving breakfast; I can't wait to try it. The food was SO good. I ate lunch, ordered fish & chips, awesome. One friend had the Coal Miner- wow it's so good. She recommended to a gentleman that couldn't decide what to get. And after a few bites he told her she'd live to see another day. The other friend had the prime rib au jus sandwich with a sald; again too notch. We came back later and had to sit at the bar, which I'm glad we did, and I had to order more fries; I love the fries. Don't be fooled by the parking lot looking full. There's room so don't pass it by. ALSO they are remodling the upstairs for a bed & breakfast.. Can't wait!

Was able to get an early reservation for a Saturday. We visited with another family who recommended the Coal Chute. Parking was easy. Park anywhere in front or side of what looked to be a converted house to restaurant. Service was good and attentive. We were seated in the front dining area and it was too noisy even at capacity. Food didn’t take as long as expected since we’re expecting to wait since that was what the other reviews stated. It was nice that they had a kids menu. The food was good. Fresh and hot. Only negatives were a fry burger probably due to being part buffalo and slightly on the pricey side for being in Roslyn. We did end up with a lot of fries since everything came with them. I did appreciate the option of show string fries and thick fries and being able to sub for salad, soup, or sweet potato fries. I’d recommend the thick fries. Overall, it was a nice meal with friends and service was always there when you needed.
