Truckers Review Before I start I want to clarify that is is a trucker review nothing to do with the retail in front . I am reviewing just shipping department to help people picking up from this place . I was scheduled to pick up yesterday and notified my broker I’ll be reaching and around 10 am local time and was in at around 9 45 am . Checked in on sign in page and was told that I am a work in as they have a busy schedule which is completely ok as I started to wait in front of docks . After about three hours they asked me to back in door 18 and then took about additional 2 hours to load me up . I was waiting for more then 5 hours on there property to pick up my load , and had a understanding with my dispatch that I would get paid the detention time but I have to get them to write time in and out on my bills , once finish up loading I requested the gentleman to write my time in and out in bills and be wrote time in at 1 18 and out 3 12 , I told him I was in at 9 45 and he said they only write the dock time means the time spend at the docks . I said ok no problem in that case I will click a picture of sign in register because it has my time in proof . Then he started saying I was a work in and stuff and I said I only need a picture of sign in sheet if they can’t give my actual time on bills . He sealed my doors and went inside and I proceeded to park my truck and went in the shipping office to take my picture but guess what the sheet with my time in was missing , I checked and re checked the clip board several times and it had all the sheets from even previous days but mine was missing. When asked the shipping lady she said she does not know . At this time I had to re sign in again on a new sheet . So now I waited for more then five hours and will possibly get zero detention pay since my bills say I was there less then two hours . Now to the second part of my very unpleasant experience, the person who loaded my truck has no idea of what he is doing . Load was more then 43 000 pounds and he loaded it all the way to doors (see pictures) been trucking for two decades now and as soon as I saw it I knew I’ll be over on my rear axel went to cat scale and I was 860 pounds over on trailer axel(see picture) with my 43 mark front tires (see picture) now for those who have been trucking long enough know that I was basically screwed by an un professional loader for those who don’t understand I was at this point left with three options 1 . Go with 860 over weight on my trailer axel. Which means ticket for over weight. Move my axel all the way back and be legal on my axel weight but go beyond my legal axel length which is 43 feet from kingpin in Michigan. Which means a warning or may be ticket for exceeding axel length . 3 . Go back in hell hole and ask them re arrange my load which meant may be another five hours unpaid waiting or even worse who knows . I took my chances and went with option 2 was legal on my weight but not the length. Was luck not to be pulled by DOT and made it fine to my destination. Again I have no problem with the management or the product it’s just the shady and unprofessional staff at shipping department made me do this review. Will never pick up from your place ever again . This review is just intended for my brothers and sisters in trucking . Thanks for taking out your time and reading my looooooong review hope it helps...
Read moreI was a fish out of water here so have a laugh with me: This trip was a gift to a child. I pulled up and on the front of this very large industrial building and noted the Hansel & Gretel looking front (and we all know how that ended, LOL! I was a little nervous about walking into the witches' lair). At the door, the overpowering odor of sugar hits and created a dizzying experience. On the right is a huge selection of every type of candy you haven't seen in decades for you to pick over. I found my brother a Clark Bar and wish I picked up licorice for my son. Keep walking and you can pick-a-mix which made the kids very happy. Along the long wall are hundreds of candy bins. The lady who served me was shocked when I asked for "two" chocolate covered cherries and 1/4 pound of jelly beans - obviously she's not used to serving keto-minded folks (the cherries were much too sweet for me). For the child - the lady was MORE than patient with a 10-year-old who was happily bouncing around to different bins as she had to make some very decisions to make! She departed with more than enough candy to last until Halloween all for a good price and enough to share with siblings and friends. --- We never were able to figure out the tours - do you have to have a group of ten? Do they not provide tours on Mondays? Do you have to wait until ten people join you? Is it really a big disappointment? I was surprised the windows into the factory were unaccessible for the kids to look through so I'm glad we didn't bet on this tour (or lack thereof). We drove up north and went to another facility with an excellent tour and the kids were very happy to learn how chocolate covered pretzels...
Read moreApon visiting the store for the first time in about 4 years I was very dissapointed to find that the overall experience had been scaled way back. This used to be a very unique location to find a large assortment of candies from all kinds of different manufactures especially in regards to individually wrapped hard candies and a massive selection of Jelly Belly products. It seems very clear that they have shifted almost entirely to only selling products which they manufacture themselves on site and have ruined what used to make this store an absolutely unique and very desirable place to visit. You also can no longer catch a glimpse of their actual production line. Sometimes it just blows my mind how upper management loses sight of the value in keeping tradition or maybe just arent concerned anymore with making a small amount of profit compared to their commercial sales and have allowed the retail store to lose the magic that it once held for miles around. This last visit will be my last as you can now basically only find their brand of gummies and house made chocolates. Very dissapointing considering their obvious massive expansions and overwhelming increase in their profits made. You would think that in making far more profit commercially they could have easily afforded to keep the retail store as is and continue to sell other brands of candy while maintaining the once magical experience of visiting. The only explanation for the scaled back experience by employees was of course blamed on the past pandemic which doesn't correlate at all. They don't even have that once cool massive chocolate fountain...
