Unacceptable Service and Unauthorized Gratuity Charge – Avoid This Place
On April 2, 2025, I visited this restaurant for the first time with two friends. We each ordered different entrées, but the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
First, the service was incredibly slow. We waited 40 to 50 minutes for our food, and the dishes were brought out in a strange, staggered manner. One person’s entire order arrived first, while the rest of us just sat and waited. Then, the second person’s food came, and finally the third. We couldn’t even enjoy our meals together. The food quality didn’t make up for the poor service either — it was far below expectations.
Due to this poor experience, we chose not to leave a tip, especially since the restaurant already charges a service fee. We found it odd that they seemed upset over not receiving an additional gratuity.
But things got worse.
A few days later, I checked my bank account and noticed that instead of the original amount of $117, the restaurant had charged me $135 — adding an unauthorized tip of around $18 to my card without my knowledge or consent. When I compared it to the receipt I had kept, I realized that this amount matched exactly a 15% tip, which they shamelessly selected and applied on their own.
I immediately reported this to my credit card company and waited patiently for the investigation to be resolved. It took nearly three months, but just two days ago I received confirmation that the issue had been resolved and my money was refunded.
While I’m relieved to have my money back, I still feel disrespected and deceived. This kind of behavior — secretly adding charges and taking advantage of customers — is not only unethical but deeply disappointing.
If you’re looking to try Turkish cuisine in Pittsburgh, I strongly encourage you to explore other restaurants. This place is a poor reflection of the city’s hospitality, and unfortunately, the character of the people running it speaks volumes about the way they...
Read moreWow! The 3 of us wanted Mediterranean food and this place was close to our homes. Made a reservation for 5pm on a Tuesday and lucky we did as by 6pm it was full.
As I parked the car, I could smell outside the aroma of the wood fired oven and the charcoal grill, definitely a great sign of authentic rustic Turkish food. Upon entering, Greeted warmly by Gorkem. She made us feel like we were faily and was expecting us.
The chef wa s busy making fresh lahmacun and pide for the patrons already seated. It is as great to see him work wirhe ingredients and the oven. Definitely transports you back to Istanbul, or in his case Adana where he is from.
The menu has lots of delicous options, Gorkem was patient with us and answered our questions. She was the only waitress in a full restaurant and we never felt neglected, kudos to her.
The lamacun and suucuklu pide are on a different level, light, fresh and piping hot from the wood fired oven. The lamb adana and chicken wraps were great in that homemade wrap pastry. Fries and lentil soup were also wonderful. We ate about half and had to take the rest home.
Probably the best Mediterranean restaurant I have been too in Pittsburgh so far. The hospitality and quality of food is outstanding. The cost was reasonable for the freshness of what you get.
This is a must try place in the North Hills. We liked it so much that we reserved a table for this Sunday so we...
Read moreA very nice Turkish restaurant and bakery up a bit North from Pittsburgh. I tried a lot of different items on their menu, and was quite impressed by them. I had the lahmacun, wheat bulgur, and Turkish pastries as well as a few complimentary items.
The lahmacun was very light but extremely flavorful. It is a nicely charred piece of bread topped with freshly minced lamb. Almost like a Turkish pizza without cheese, or a very very flatbread. The meat was flavorful and the bread was crispy.
The wheat bulgur was delicious. This would be a great side to any meat dish, so definitely try some if you get a kebab or something like that. It’s soft, flavorful, and tastes homemade. Really good.
The Turkish pastry they served me was delicious as well. It was a nice looking 8 figure with fresh bread, a crispy top, and a chocolate inside. I need to go back just to try more pastries, because that was very good.
They also served me a complimentary item: the watermelon salad. It was served with herbs and lemon. I wasn’t the biggest fan, but it is nice they served it for free and I must say it is fresh and could go well with meat dishes.
All in all, a very nice spot. I’d love to come back for more food (meat mostly) and for the desserts. Would...
