Cinco De Mayo Mexican Bar & Grill Rossford — Restaurant in Rossford

Went with a group of 6, we were family members who were all in from out of town wanting to visit. They were very accommodating. There's 2 large rooms to choose from. Lots of seating available, and the chairs and tables are super neat. The food was delicious. Salsa was a little runny for my tastes but was still good flavor wise. Guacamole was fresh. All the food came out quickly was hot and tasted fresh. I ordered 3 enchiladas, 2 chicken 1 beef and they came with a side of rice and beans. The beef was delicious the chicken although not bad I expected more flavor from the meat itself not just the topped enchilada sauce. The rice was soft and the beans were deliciously creamy but I would've liked a little more beans then I received. I received maybe a couple tablespoons. The menu is a bit busy, but there's tons of options, which is great, bad for those that are indecisive! Lol. The only reason I gave 4 stars was for the service. Our waiter was nice, polite but super soft spoken in a loud room. We all continuously had to ask him to repeat himself, which I think started to irritate him. He seemed like he just wanted us to eat, pay and leave. Which defeated the purpose. We took our time enjoying talking and appetizers before ordering. We were there 2 hrs. Asked for separate checks and we all tipped him 25% or more since we were there 2 hrs. Maybe a little more kindness in the future, less irritation, and just a general better demeanor when handling patrons. Otherwise, we all enjoyed our visit and I personally would go back again. Food was excellent as well as the service! Portions are more than generous. I highly recommend.

Pro tips: While to some might appear as a con and not a pro staff does have minor language barrier. Just be patient and if your request isn't understood be understanding and use Google translate and or pictures of what your request is.

On 8/18/2020 my parents and I visited for the 1/2 off lunch special. The staff language barrier caused a minor misunderstanding of the bill and food 1/2 off (50% off) for lunch special that was not honored However the mistake salsa was actually good and would rather have over the sliced pickled jalapenos.

To summarize this.

1.Expect great authentic food. Speak spanish or use google translate or photos if necessary. Tip well especially if getting discounts. Staff is friendly and will go above and beyond.

Our server who I recognize from the past is always checking in on our table and keeps good eye on refilling drinks/pop/condiments and is incredibly polite. I feel bad I don't know his name to give credit to him. Just know this gentlemen won't disappoint and will treat you very well and is deserving of a higher end tip.

Notes: Staff did practice good hygiene, use of masks and overall good general cleanliness.

Would recommend this place any day for great service and good food.

Consistency of food is...

Unfortunately again horrible service if you sit at the bar. We were served 1 drink within the first 5 minutes but then completely ignored although several staff members walked past us doing other duties but never made eye contact. It seems on purpose because we were literally the only 2 people on that entire side of the bar. It is quite obvious that the bar clientele are not as important as the rest of the restaurant as this is not the first time this has happened. There is still no actual bartender on duty and we were the least important patrons to the wait staff. When we flagged someone down to order from, she reluctantly took our order and told our “waiter” to handle it. He stopped by then to see if we wanted another drink while we waited for our food order. When it did arrive by another staff member, mine was cold and greasy so I didn’t eat it. No one noticed for another at least 10 minutes and by then I decided to not reorder. As this was happening another man sat 2 stools away from us and was having the same problem. He was served his first drink without issue but he was forced to flag someone down to ask if he could order some food.
