My daughter had booked Swedes Restaurant and Catering for her 9-14-24 wedding, in Lake Odessa. 20 minutes before bridal party entrance and dinner, she asked if catering was there, that was a no. She had someone call. He told them he was in Eagle at a wedding and he had forgot. My daughter called him ( Rob), he was at Eagle, he had forgot and didnt know what to do and didnt have her catering. Now you can imagine, her and my son in laws wedding and 210 people to feed, with a answer, I forgot! She had them booked since 7-31-23. She had some calls, multiple texts to Rob through the year. 8-29-24 last text he asked : where venue was, do you want white or navy napkins, do you want garlic or regular mashed potatoes, if going to be at venue Friday may bring some stuff over. It took my daughter to call Rob, then myself. He didn't reach out to her to try to compensate for the devastation that was put onto my daughter and her husband, but a no show "i forgot ". I waited to call him, called Friday, Sept. 20, 2024. He said I don't know, last text to my daughter 8-29-24, he forgot, didn't really answer if he even ordered the food for the event, he said they have food readily available, the menus for catering (weddings) are all the same . My daughter had called him same day prior to my call. He told her he got her mixed up with someone else. How does one do business with no contract, no written out specifics of menu items for event, no address of person booking, etc? When I talked with Rob he had no explanation, talked circles and rudely just hung up the phone on me! He has done absolutely nothing to try to compensate for such an extremely business failure. So if you want to take a chance, he might remember your special day, go ahead and book with Swedes Restaurant and Catering........Brides beware of...

Read moreOld timey dining at it's finest. This place looks like a tiny dump from the outside. Inside is old and has a lot of mismatched seating apparatus. There isn't really a menu to speak of. Yes, from the look of things this is going to be bad. WRONG! There were 4 "specials" that day, all $9.99 each. They were written out on a whiteboard over the old fashioned lunch counter.
We sat in a booth that has a table that does not match the seats. It was weird but it worked. I ordered the roast beef and the wife had the shrimp special. Both were great. We got out of there with a $30 bill that included a five dollar tip. I finished my roast beef dinner...just like mom used to make...and was "take a nap" full...the wife brought about 7 shrimp home which we ate the next day at lunch.
If you are looking for a fancy place with polished wait staff and matching flatware do not go here. If you want a real slice of Americana cleverly disguised as great food and service at a really fair price ...then yes by all means stop...
