I love BBQ! I have put that statement to the test several times across the United States and out of all the places I've been, Smokey's is the best.
I ordered the full rack of ribs, garlic fries, and the baked beans. The garlic fries were great! Thick cut steak fries with a bountiful portion of garlic on them made each fry a delight to eat. The baked beans, unlike most other places where they use the same bbq sauce for everything, were uniquely fantastic! I believe they are cooked with the brisket to add a whole new level of goodness, making the flavor of not only the beans, but the sauce they are in something exclusive to the baked beans.
The rack of ribs were absolutely perfect! The meat literally fell off the bone and had such a deep, rich flavor. You could see the smoke ring in the meat, confirming that they are 100% smoked to perfection. The bark (crust) of the rib was crisp and a welcoming introduction into the deeper, moist, flavor filled meat below. These are the best ribs I have ever had. My only regret was eating my salad and not having enough room to finish the whole rack (heaven knows I tried). Had some good take home, though, and they were just as amazing the next day.
Our waiter was pleasant to talk to and very efficient in communication and service. We didn't wait long for our food and the ambiance of the restaurant (pictures on the walls, music overhead, comfort and space of the booth we were in) all helped to create the perfect dining experience. Tyrone, the owner and chef of Smokey's, even came out and paid my wife and I a visit. It was great to see the man behind the masterpiece; very humble and kind.
I will definitely be eating here as much as I can. The prices of the items on the menu are more than reasonable with not only the grand portion sizes you get, but the quality and care that is put into each bite of your food. You will not be disappointed...
Read moreSeriously was excited about going to this place after seeing some of the reviews. So me and my girlfriend get all ready and drive 20 minutes to get there on a Tuesday night and there hours are listed as 11am-10pm on google and it's also posted on the door. We get there and the open sign is flashing and the door is LOCKED! There are 4 workers cleaning up and chefs in the kitchen just staring at us and don't bother to come to the door to give us the explanation why the door is locked and why they are closed. They just stare at us through the window almost laughing like it's funny we're just standing outside the door in the cold wondering why there not open when it's 8pm and there suppose to be open for another 2 hours! Then we point to the open sign that's on and flashing and one of the employees walks up to the front door and unplugs the sign and walks away without even opening the door to apologize or explain!!!! THERE FOOD MAY BE AWESOME BUT I WOULD NEVER GIVE MY BUSINESS TO ANOTHER BUSINESS THAT TREATS ITS CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT! Totally unprofessional and says a lot about how the owner runs his shop. I own a business and I would never let my employees treat customers in such a disgusting disrespectful manner. Worked out awesome because Sitara of India up the street even though the were closing very soon still got us a table and excellent service and even better food!!! Highly recommend going to Sirara if your looking for amazing Indian food in the Ogden area!! Smokeys needs some revamping on the employee customers service end before I would ever consider going there or referring anyone to them. Hope the owner steps up and takes care of this problem with his...
Read moreBenefit of the Doubt. A couple of weeks ago while staying overnight in the area, I checked restaurants online as one does, and found that Smokey's served my fav. Burnt Ends. They were seriously good. I travel , BBQ is my Food of choice and yeah cholesterol is between me and my Doctor!, but, very tasty! The sides were also on par on perhaps even 2 below, that's good (or 2 above! if you don't golf.) Today stopped in while going back thru and took a co-worker and raved about the Burnt Ends and was pleased they were listed on the "Specials" Board as the special, and while they are listed on the menu as , "As Available ", we were disappointed that at 2 in the afternoon, they were no longer available . I can only think that as they are so good, the lunch trade had bought all available portions . They are that good, so cudos dudes!! Instead, I had the Brisket Sandwich with sweet potato fries . Tasty. Brisket was a little dry. The sauce while good was a bit thin on the sandwich and there was none on the table. I may be spoiled having had BBQ through out the South and Mid-West but The Sauce is King. A good Smoke - person can get the meat to just the right stage time after time, it is an Art and a Master Smoker can make a boot great. Smokey's Smoker is top notch. Their sauce is great but perhaps between lunch and dinner is a slow time, and they had pulled the bottles for cleaning? , I don't know but think they should have them on the table. It would only add to a wonderful experience. I...
