What has happened to my Mark III?!? We went for date night last Friday, early, figuring we wouldn't have a problem getting seated. But no. They've taken away 1/3 of their seating to make way for a new waitstaff station. Really? Ok whatever, we had to wait, no big deal. We saw friends in the bar and we're invited to join them at their table - yay! That was the best thing I can say about the rest of the night. The waiter we had was horrible - not attentive at all - waited 20 min for our drinks, another 20 for waters, another 15 min for the chips and salsa and 40 min for our food - he never checked on us, I had to flag him down to ask about everything. The bartender was swamped! I was thinking, man that girl can use some help! But apparently she prefers to work alone?? I'm sorry, what? Sweetie, a restaurant like the Mark III is high capacity and fast paced, you need get those drinks made quick! Working alone is not an option. You want a bar to work alone in, go work at Texas Corral. Now for the food. I usually get a steak burrito and I did so again. It had maybe 3 pieces of steak, not done medium as requested, and tough. The burrito sauce which is normally great, smokey and balanced, was anything but. It was like pure tomato sauce, overly acidic and sour. We were all ready to go by the time our food finally arrived. Nobody was happy. Took another 15 min or so to flag down the waiter to get the bill. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and I'll try again another time. But man, when you're used to outstanding service and food at a favorite restaurant, this was just so...
Read moreThe lady in the front took are name and then acted like we were not there. I don’t know if it was because we where Mexican or what but she kept skipping us and sitting other people down will we cough on and told her if we was being skipped. Then all of sudden she noticed us there and sat us down. I will not be come back to this restaurant.
A real review from a real person
Hi sir, I’m not trying argue with you but you hostess for sure took our name but only wrote it on the wight bored she had up there with her and this was the older lady. The other people coming in they did not have a reservation and the reason we know this it because we ware hearing what she was saying to them 10-15 min for a table . We had even questioned the 4th person she was about to sit and they were kind enough to tell us they in fact did not have a reservation. When we finally told the older lady if we where being skipped she then said that the young lady in the front was new and that she did not put are name down on the iPad and truth is because the older lady did not in fact give our name to the young lady in the front. So in fact the lady did skip us and the other people that she sat before us did not have a reservation and we do understand that with a reservation you will be seated first but the people that where coming in after us were being sat and they did not have a reservation. Only reason we know this is because we wear hearing what they would say to her and what she would say to them.

Read moreWOW ! Is about the only way to describe Mark III. We went there with the recommendation of some friends that live in the local area, who went along also. It ended up with a party of 11 people and the service was top notch. The waitress was smiling every time she came to our table. The staff was extremely friendly and even seated us in a requested area of the restaurant because there was a small child with the group. The steaks were prepared perfectly and even though the restaurant was packed wall to wall our order came amazingly prompt. As we were in St Joseph, MI from central Missouri, I could not have been impressed any more with the excellent service and the food. Now I know why the parking lot was packed when we arrived. Our local friends tell us that the Mexican food they sells as fabulous as the steaks. How could you go wrong ? I would recommend this establishment to anyone in a heart beat. I would get The Mark III a 5 Star rating. This is a must to stop if you are anywhere close to the area, and by that, I mean it would be will worth an hours drive to enjoy a first call meal. Thank you Mark III for a fantastic evenimg. One more thing to look for in the waiting area is an old school phone booth. The phone does not work in it but would be great to show the young kids how phone calls use to be made. Enjoy your visit there and...
