Merry Little Baker — Restaurant in Royalton Township

Please note: They are more of an artisanal cafe than a bakery. However, they can accommodate orders larger than individual serving size with 24 hours notice. I’m new to town and mistakingly thought it was a bakery. Stopped in one morning excited to buy some treats to share with coworkers. When I asked for an assortment of one and a half dozen cookies in their display case, they begrudgingly accommodated my request while explaining they make small batches and orders of the size I requested need to be submitted 24 hours in advance because they don’t want to sell out quickly. Having worked at a bakery, I was surprised and confused by their reaction to my request because in my experience, selling out was the goal and the faster the better. They didn’t appear to genuinely welcome my business and the transaction left a bad taste in my mouth. I quickly went from feeling happy to feeling bad and in retrospect, wish I would have left without making a purchase. Sadly, I won’t be a returning customer. We love this quaint bakery. It is bright and inviting, and in a pretty convenient location. You can see them working back in the kitchen, which is neat. They have a legit espresso machine, and a coffee menu. The food is what you have to try, though! Our kids can vouch for the amazing cinnamon rolls and gigantic, buttery turnovers. The artisan breads are SO good, too. (Crunchy baguettes!!!) Homemade breads. I saw lemon meringue pie, and a carrot cake while we were there, but haven’t tried them yet. Looked awesome though!

Best espresso drinks in town! The salted caramel latte incorporates a homemade caramel syrup made at the bakery. The zucchini and banana breads are my favorite and don't last long. So much flavor in both! Beats other bakeries in the area with breads that taste very bland. And when the holidays roll around, you must get some of the homemade pies and cakes.
