Rock Creek Cafe and Meat Market — Restaurant in Royalton Township

Typical truck stop cuisine. I can usually overlook average/bad food if the service is good, but in this case, they missed the mark on both. Server didn’t bring out dinner salad before meal, but was standing behind the register chatting with the other gal working there almost the whole time between the time we ordered and the time we got our food. I’d understand if they were busy or if she just forgot, but they were literally standing ten feet in front of us just chatting away. My meal was overly salty - not like your average “overly salted” meal, but like someone had seriously miscalculated the amount of salt put in the gravy mix. Our server never came back to check on our table once! There was barely anyone in the place when we got our food! When I flagged the server down to tell her about the meal, her response was awkward - but she did eventually take the meal off the ticket. Had the rest of my family not already been done eating, I may have tried something else but by this point we just wanted to leave. Next time we will drive the extra distance and...

Good place to stop and get gas or a quick bite. The kid who works in the gas station is a good guy. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they have. I think his name is Richard or something.

Update (January 2022): You're never going to believe this... The gas station/convenience store? IT'S GONE! I mean, it didn't vanish or anything. They closed it down a few months after I wrote the first review. I think that Richard dude probably wasn't as good of a guy as I gave him credit for. I bet he was stealing all the Combos and Diet Sprite. I mean, why was he so happy and helpful? Something was definitely up.

A lot of of people don't realize how razor thin the profit margins are at these places. A lot of people think they make money on the gasoline but really it's all about the Combos/Diet Sprite game. Remember...

Maybe I'm just a spoiled brat from Madison where everyone makes their food from scratch and orders locally. So take this for what it is.

Literally worse than what I've had at McDonald's. Had a Rueban, cheddar broccoli soup and cherry pie, it all tasted like it came directly out of a can without the extra seasoning to hide the taste.

Both the cheese on the sandwich and in the soup tasted like it was sourced from from a can of easy cheese.

The pie literally tastes like the canned cherry filling you get from a grocery store with a soggy crust that had no purpose in existing.

The staff, super friendly and very polite. This was their saving grace. The older lady that served me was very nice...
