A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Russell

I have had the great fortune to have traveled all over these United States and had some of the greatest meals a person can ask for. From Lobster in Maine, to BBQ in Texas, to Seafood in oceanside restaurants on all coasts. I have had the finest meals from the finest chefs and spent lots of money on these experiences. None of these things compares to the Chicken Tenders at A&W in Russell, Kansas. The entire menu (and my sons and I have tried it all) is great. From the cheeseburgers, to the Root Beer, to the fries, to the cheese curds, there is nothing that is lacking. The chicken tenders are the best chicken I have ever tasted anywhere on earth. They are breaded and cooked perfectly. The breading is flavorful but doesn't overpower the taste of the chicken. It is as if the Angels were brought to Russell to create these breaded masterpieces made from the finest chicken to ever walk the planet. For your own good, I beseech you to stop and eat at the Russell A&W. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is exactly what you want in a restaurant. It invites you in and gives you a calm reprieve from any storm you might be...

Long but very worth the read. We were visiting the Russell, Kansas A&W on fossil 7/15/21. We had been there a few days before. My mother ordered a mushroom onion melt. It was good so we went back today for another one. It had maybe 2 small pieces of onion and very little mushroom. I ask if we could get a replacement. The owner came out and dissected the burger pointing out every little mushroom and onion. He said he would bring us out some onions and I said I wasn't going to be playing in the sandwich like he did. We just wanted a different sandwich. He said be would take the burger and give us our money back. Yelling...SERIOUSLY!!!!! WHAT OWNER WOULD DO THAT? I told him if i order a steak that is too rare they don't come to your table and pick apart your steak and then say "well..... that's how wer cook them" . So we stopped here on the way to Colby KS. We love A&W and around where we live in IL they have closed almost all of them down. We couldn't resist to stop here, especially for the root beer. It is very old and needs some maintenance done where u push the button to order. Most of the push to order buttons were busted. They brought out my moms food first and I waited for my son and nieces and my own food for at least 30mins. Food was ok. Crispy chicken sandwich was just 2 chicken strips on a bun Lol but it was good. The root beers were disgusting. This was not A&W root beer. Was more like a bad knock off. Yuck!
