Was passing through Russellville with my girlfriend and decided to stop by Colonial inn and try their food for the first time as I pass through Russellville often but never ate there before. We walked in at 10:15am and was gonna order something from the menu and the woman working the register said that they got buffet as well and buffet starts in 15 min at 10:30. I asked her how much the buffet is and was told it was $7.69 so we decided to wait 15 min and then we had the buffet. After we was done eating and the waitress brought the bill I noticed that we got charged for one buffet $7.69 but for the other they charged me $9.69. When I asked how come that one was $7.69 and the other was $9.69 I was told that if you have a salad from the cold side of the buffet they charge an extra $2.00. Which they never told me that when I asked how much the buffet is and I didnt see no signs stating that the cold side or salad bar costs $2.00 more. Now the funny thing is.... the woman that told me the buffet is $7.69 per person is the same woman that charged me $9.69 for one of the buffets and I clearly stated when we walked in that we never ate there before and that we are there for the first time. I feel like I was cheated out of $2.00 because they told me that the buffet was $7.69 and then I got charged 2 dollars extra because as they told me afterwards the cold side or salad bar costs extra... my honest opinion of this restaurant is that the hot side of the buffet was all freash and delicious... the cold side of the buffet was soggy and nasty!!!! The tomatoes was soggy and old almost tasted like canned tomatoes since they was probably pre cut days if not weeks before...The salad its self was turning brown and was old! The ranch dressing was as thick as an soft serve icecream. I will never eat here again because I wasn't only cheated out of $2.00 but I got charged $2.00 for nasty and old salad that I didnt...
ย ย ย Read moreDowntown home country breakfast/lunch place. Local favorite for folks in this town. They have the basic breakfast buffet and on my visit the majority of folks seemed to choose it. Lots of scrambled eggs, piles of bacon and plenty of toast among these hearty eaters. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with a side of bacon and some home fries. The omelette came with country ham. If you don't know what country ham is, you ain't from the south, or you ain't spent much time in the south. It was a perfect omelette. The bacon was good and the home fries were exceptional. My server was overworked but kept on top of my coffee like a pro. She also brought me water. I hadn't thought to order that and I sure enjoyed getting it. This was a very inexpensive meal. About $13 for all this food. They've got some tables they can put together for larger groups. They also have a few booths here and there. They have a small back room that has six other tables. You order at your table and you pay at the register. I tipped my server a crisp ten dollar bill because I saw just how hard she was working. When you do a google search for that area for breakfast on a sunday morning there are not very many options besides drive through fast food. I'm delighted to say the Colonial Inn was wonderful and I would definitely eat...

I stopped for southern food. It was Sunday mid-day and church was letting out so it was busy. It looked crowded but look around the corner in back and the place just goes and goes.
Unfortunately it took the waitress a while to find me. I was about to go ask if it was buffet only when the waitress appeared.
I ordered country ham and eggs with biscuits and gravy, and grits. When the food came the girl said she'd be back with my grits. That's a problem - I eat the grits with the eggs. Moreover, the eggs are the tricky part. You can't dish out some grits from the pot when the eggs are done? Serving the grits at the same time as the eggs should be the easy part.
Then the gravy was cold. Other than that the food was delicious. The gravy was plain white gravy but it was excellent, as were the biscuits, and everything else.
They fry their eggs to the style of the whites having the lacy browned streaks through them. I don't mind them like that, as long as they're not so burned that you can't cut them with your fork. These were fine.
I would definitely eat...
