This used to be a good place for seafood, not anymore. This used to be a very good place to stop for seafood. The last time we stopped (takeout that time) wasn't great either but we just shrugged off saying they were having bad day and thought we would give it another try. Prices are higher than other local places and the servings have been cut in half. You can't have it both ways. You cant raise the prices, cut the servings in half, serve food on paper plates and cocktails in plastic cups and charge "Ritz Carlton Hotel" prices. We should have left when the hostess very rudely told a 4 year-old boy in line with his father to NOT TOUCH HER CRAYONS AND MARKERS!
$146 for one fried clam dinner (the size of nickels), one scallop dinner (scallops cut in halves to appear like larger portion) with cold fries and 3 warm cocktails (no ice) and a beer. Never going back to this place ever again.
The one star is for the server, Patricia, the only good thing about this establishment.
Your replies to the negative reviews you have received clearly shows that you don't care what your patrons think. I listed all the items we received for $146.00. I never stated the fried clam dinner alone was $146.00. Our drinks did come in plastic cups. Your fries may have been hot when they were put on the plate but were cold when they were served to us. I read all the negative reviews and not once did you reply back with a positive remark. Apparently, the customer is always wrong. A bit of advice, speak to your very rude hostess that scares customers away before they even get seated. Although she may be doing...
Read moreWe have been going to BG’s for years. We never minded the fact you are served mediocre food, at absorbent prices on paper plates and with plastic utensils, because it was part of the charm. We are locals to the area and typically the best seafood is served on paper plates and not in pretentious restaurants. Well that charm ends now, after being treated more poorly by the hostess/owner than I have ever been treated by restaurant staff, let alone the owner! We went to celebrate my sisters birthday, please note never have a celebration here, pretty sure it’s against the/her rules. We were a party of 11 (4 being kids). She tried to turn us away immediately because of her 10 or less rule. We then tried all the strategies you will see written about on other reviews. Can we split up into 2 or 3 tables? Answer was no. What if we had come in separately and asked for different tables? Answer was that she now knows we are together so she will not allow us to split up. I felt like I was going crazy with the answers she was giving. She finally allowed us to sit inside (and if you know this place the inside is disgusting and ugly), while we saw the entire side deck empty and parties of 5/6/7 being sat out there. Service was fine once we got out of the principals office (host stand area), but it was about $800 for a party of 11 (4 ordering off the kids menu!!) Not worth the money, especially if it’s going into the hands of the owner who treated us absolutely terribly. She will trick tourists into eating there probably, but can’t imagine this place will retain her local...
Read moreAs a lifelong resident, it's hard not to know this location. Incredible lobster rolls and several different delicious chowder's to choose from.
This is a seasonal location and usually closes around late October early November.
On a recent trip I brought a friend of mine with me and we both had the lobster chowder which was fantastic.
My friend tried the chowder and he thought the lobster meat was a little bit cold (some people do like cold lobster) but it was not a problem, they simply reheated the chowder and a couple of minutes later all was well.
When you see the amount of lobster chunks of meat that are put in the chowder, your eyes will come out of your head!
My friend has been a very serious foodie for the better part of fifty years in the area and said he has never seen so much meat inside a lobster chowder!!
I think you would be very hard-pressed to find any place else that has as much meat in the lobster chowder than Geno's.
The lobster rolls themselves are excellent as well and you have the choice of drawn butter or mayonnaise.
I've tried several different menu items so it's hard to say about each one, but all were delicious.
Several incredible desserts to choose from. Trust me when I tell you to try the strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream on the side!
As of Summer 2020 you are best to call ahead to make reservations but they can usually get you in...
