When you can’t get something out of your head, when it’s got your grey matter in a chokehold, you find a way to have it again at all costs.
Tasting perfection changes a person, wouldn’t you agree?
Now, the above is applicable to many things in life. In this case, my brain was at a standstill last weekend after having one of the most balanced lobster rolls and lobster bisques that I’ve had in recent months. So much so that I scrambled to catch them again this weekend before they closed for the season.
Kudos to the Ladies at the Rye Harbor Lobster Pound for continuously churning out well-seasoned generously stuffed rolls, unctuous bisques and loaded chowders.
Get your roll hot (Sherry Butter, what? Take my money) or cold (crunch of celery, perfect amt of mayo, hint of citrus…come on); cannot go wrong w/ either.
And please, no skipping their trademarked Fluffy Chowder — your stomach, your soul, and yes, even your brain will thank you for pampering them w/ the riches of the sea.
Extra: They currently have some of the better prices for lobsters/lb that I’ve seen, for ex. Select Lobsters at 2+ lbs for ~$12.00/lb.
Check their socials for when they’ll be open again; however, I did just see that they have a baby sister location a short distance away at 919 Washington Rd, Rye, called “The Hungry Lobster” with an even larger menu…Oh,...
Read moreI had a really horrible experience here. I ordered some steamers and they were really undercooked - very mushy. I politely asked if they could plunk back in the water again to cook a little longer and they said they'd make me a new batch. 15 min later, after several other people had ordered and gotten their food, a young waitress came outside and asked "who had steamers"? I raised my hand and so did another woman who had just arrived. The waitress handed her the steamers. I told her I had been waiting for my re-do order and she grabbed the steamers from the other customer and gave them to me. She then went inside and the whole staff was talking loudly about how I was so high maintenance because I wanted my clams "overcooked" and how I couldn't just wait longer since it takes so long to overcook clams. I went in and explained that I didn't want overcooked, I just wanted safe clams to eat, and that it probably was not professional to complain about a customer so loudly that everyone else could hear about it. They were so rude to me, in front of my son, and never apologized. I was going to instagram the meal, buy a bunch of lobsters to go, and instead I will never go back. I have never left a one star review and will never go back...
Read moreI looked this place up online. We went there to try the fluffy clam chowder. It was not a disappointment. It was different and delicious. The lobster meat was very generous a small size was nine dollars. the large size was 18 you can go there just for the clam chowder and it would be worth the trip. We also bought two lobster rolls. I had the one with all the butter, it tasted like I was eating a lobster pie, different but delicious. We also had the one with mayo and it had a little bit of sliced celery, that also was perfect. The only thing I did not care for is the fact that you have to pay five dollars to park your car in the parking lot next-door . We have a handicap placard, so it was free. They do offer two free passes for customers, but they were being used at the time. The owners and staff were very friendly I would highly recommend. They have a dog Lillie that hangs around who was...
