I'd been wanting to try this place for a while. I love a little sketchy hole in the wall food place. It's inside arcade market all the way in the back and yes it's in a pretty bad neighborhood blah blah blah. I ain't worried about all that. It's the hood y'all, get over it. First of all I'd like to say not greeting customers when they walk up is a sure way to miss out on business. I almost walked away and then decided I'd press the issue because I really just wanted to try it. After the cook looked at me multiple times and ignored me, I flagged down another older guy who was extremely kind. He explained the menu and was obviously passionate about his work because he went into detail. So I order some shrimp and grits, something Ive never liked before, and waited at the barstools. As I'm waiting a lady comes up, looking everywhere for someone to take her order just like I had to. Finally she flags down that same cook who looks at her and tries to ignore her but she catches him. He then huffs and puffs, rolls his eyes, slowly walks over to her. She asks if the list on the wall is milkshake flavors, he then doesn't answer her but starts reading off the flavors. As if she can't read. She then restates her question and he asks, so do you want a milkshake. Hands down one of the rudest people Iv ever seen. She then starts apologizing because "she knows he's tired. I'm sorry to bug you. I didn't mean to interrupt your day. I'm sorry. Sometimes what helps me wake up is drinking water." He replied to her, "yeah, I'll drink some water" with complete sarcasm in his voice. I was so annoyed I almost left. The older guy brings out my order, packs it up nice for me, and I get out of there. The food was really damn good. I added lobster which I wouldn't recommend. Had little flavor although it had good texture. The grits were so creamy and delicious. Gravy was bomb. Shrimp fried perfectly. Sausages were juicy. First time I've ever liked shrimp n grits. Overall: I'll be back to try more of their food. I'm hoping that kid in the chefs outfit won't be there. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who likes good customer service. If your lucky, theres a shorter Asian or Mexican guy who works there and he's awesome and also seems like he does most of the cooking. Ask him every time.

This place definitely needs new management. There's a young guy that works there, acts like it killing him to take your order, half the time, ignoring a customer, if the order is wrong, heaven forbid you say something, he rolls his eyes, gives dirty looks. It's a neighborhood spot, but the prices, are high, 27.00 for 2hamburgers, the fries are supposed to be free. The bun is big, the hamburger is small. The attitude is bad, he definitely needs a new job. Breakfast is high as well. Tried the biscuits and gravy, 1 bisquit, 1 spoonful of gravy, eggs cost extra, 9.00, Jimmy's 2bisquits ,plenty of gravy, 2eggs, with choice of bacon or sausage, 10.00. Tried new place, Hawaiian BBQ ,picture included, 2hamburgers,with fries, 20.00, 7.00 dollars cheaper. The hamburger was bigger than the bun . Plenty of fries, ketchup given instead of hot sauce. This place needs work. Food cost have gone up, but they are ridiculous. Do not recommend. Especially with the attitude. The picture on the left, j spot kitchen. Photo on the right, Hawaiian BBQ.

This lady can cook. Shrimp and Grits were ridiculously good, packed full of flavor, shrimp, chicken and sausage. Add on lobster for a couple of bucks and man I thought I was royalty. Also ordered the tri-tip sliders which were BBQ sauce infused Hawaiian rolls of delight. Moist and flavorsome with a handful of fries. You’ve seriously got to try this place as I really can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Thank you “Chef” that was delicious.

Located inside new arcade market. I'm a top rated Google guide, and this is my 1st one star rating. Worst double cheeseburger and fries I've ever had. All the veggies were sliced ultra thin and sparce. They were wilted and limps so you could tell they'd been sitting out a long time (lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and 2 limp pickles). It tasted almost exactly like a big mac, except the patties were bigger, however the burgers were totally dry with no moisture at all, grainy, and grisely. The fries were totally limp like soggy noodles and you could tell werent even half cooked. They tasted raw and were cold. Could tell they had been precooked partially and likely had been sitting out a long time or had been pre-thawed before throwing them in the cooking basket for what had to be a minute or less.

The food was so terrible I looked up a recent food inspection report from the county od Sacramento dated November 2024. Refrigerated goods must be kept around 30-41 degrees, and hot foods between 130-140. They had violations for eggs kept at 60°, and hot foods like grits which they specialize in at 101° degrees which employees "reheated" during the inspection, as well as food contamination violations for food storage such as cracked raw eggs stored above raw bacon over milk with a notation of repeat contamination violations. Employees were unaware of proper sanitation and dish washing procedures, employees didn't have proper food handling cards. Dust and grease contaminating surfaces, to go boxes and napkins kept in the floor by the doors and more. Its like a report out of Gordon Ramseys kitchen nightmares.

Avoid eating here at all costs unless your looking for potential food poisoning or diarrhea or other health issues caused by gross contamination,...

Great to order from DD cause you'd have no clue of the issues within.

The Gumbo with lobster tails and fried chicken brought me into the store instead of ordering continuously from DD. We've also gotten the hotlink, chilli dogs, loaded potatoes with both ground and shredded beef and a few other things. J really does her thang in the kitchen, however ... There were too many issues with the food handling and the area on which it's served.

The food area isn't well secured, it's in a fridge/hotbar anyone can access. The hot bar is Infront of customers path way, so anyone could cough or sneeze and everyone will be sick. Visible Blood stains on the counter, no explanation. Just eww! Hair found in the food, yuck! I made J aware of the food issues and she tried to make my horrible experiences right but NO. Even with all of the options, NO.

!!!The blood on the counter was the final nail for me!!!.

Feeling like this place is too unsanitary and it's only a matter of time before someone gets really ill. Such a shame when you live to support good black owned businesses. Employees need food handling and safety training and their certificates posted.

I have high hopes if they can pull it together but for now 2stars.

5/3/23 *No, I have the right place, in that grocery market off Marysville road where you be hanging all over the front counter men. J you saw the blood when I came in and approached you about the hair found in our food the time before. Which is why I left a detailed review. Correct place. No hate at...
