Found this place from a Yelp search and all of the recent reviews were very positive so we decided to give it a try. The staff was very welcoming and the overall atmosphere reminded me of a few places back home in rural North Florida.
We ordered two eggs with country sausage links, grits, and a extra side of hash browns as one meal and two eggs with the country fried steak with the breakfast potatoes as the other. We both got the biscuit and gravy as our “bread choice” because you always try the biscuits and gravy when offered.
First of all, thank you for salting the grits. They were absolutely wonderful and If that were all I had, this would have been a five star review.
The main parts of the meal were great, the eggs and sausage and the eggs and country fried steak. The breakfast potatoes were also seasoned very well and very flavorful. The hasbrowns were cooked to my liking but really lacked any flavor, which was interesting because everything else was so well seasoned.
The least desirable part of the meal was the biscuit and gravy. The biscuit to gravy ratio was appropriate however, the biscuit was very hard. Texturally it seemed like the biscuit has been cooked, cooled, and then reheated again in something like a microwave, which made it tough; so tough we could barely get a fork through it. The sausage gravy could have also been a little thicker and a tad more pepper would make it a little more authentic.
Some things to improve on for the true southern authentic breakfast. I would visit again if in the area but would be a little more selective in my choices. Like I said, the main parts of the...
Read moreI don't know what to say other than this place is absolutely delicious and the service is great. Don't believe me? Then check it out! I'm definitely going back so that I can try more of their menu.
Edit: Hello, its been a year since I've made this review and I'm still five stars on this place. Since then I've actually moved away so going to Sarom's is difficult. Irregardless of this, I still crave their food and their stunning service. Before I moved though I had made time to pick up from them during the pandemic. Let me tell you it was a highlight during the bleak pandemic. They were always nice and took care of their customers and the FOOD.... The food is always amazing. If you read their backstory it really makes sense (I read it after my first visit). Every dish really does taste like its made with love. I'm honestly so very happy that they are still here after the pandemic and hope they have a prosperous future. Also if you're wondering why I'm doing an edit... Well I don't leave a lot of reviews I do this on occassion when I realize the passion behind a restaurant. My dad was a chef and I grew up in the kitchen, its always a pleasure when I see true appreciation for food that someone presents. And after this trying time and knowing how many places have shut down becuase of the hardship, I'm truly happy that Sarom's has survived. With that said... If you feel like having a good meal that feels like hime please try Sarom's out. Its worth the drive if you live a bit aways and I promise you won't...
Read moreI’ve been here multiple times throughout the last 4 years and every time it doesn’t disappoint at all. The go to is their fried catfish is perfectly seasoned and the breading on it is not to thick it’s thin and crispy it’s the second best thing on the menu in my opinion and you have to pair it with the side of Mac’n cheese and collard greens. They have THE BEST collard greens in the city. The collard greens is the best thing on the menu. The chicken and waffles is amazing perfectly crispy and seasoned well not too spicy I’d say it’s a good contender against Roscoe’s chicken and waffles in LA. The biscuits and gravy was hella good. The gravy is very flavorful and not overly floured it’s a great consistency not too thick or runny. The omelette is huge so you definitely get your moneys worth with that. I don’t have much to say about the pancakes a lot of places can make a great pancake, that doesn’t mean it was bad it just an item that can’t really be messed up. If you’re thinking of coming here please do but make sure you get here before 11:30am it gets packed and busy until around 2pm. They don’t have any restrictions on when they start serving lunch. The full menu is available no matter what time you arrive. They are also available...
