The famous "Trap" beer and wine bar/saloon in the pocket neighborhood area. A long time fixture going back to the mid 1800's A friendly place where locals meet to play pool, play darts or just talk the day away in the bar or patio area. Karaoke on some nights, check their schedule. They also have a food truck permanently attached here. Offers fast food, but I understand the food menu will expand. For now, I love talking to Hector the bartender, and Mariah the owner while drinking some beer or wine and just relaxing after work. One of these days I'll try a sandwich or two.

Great dive bar. Standard amount of drinks on tap you'd expect. The place was clean, the bathrooms do smell horrible with that sorta old dive bar smell, but the smell is contained to them. The outdoor space out back was larger then we expected. Folks do smoke out back, so do what you will with that information. The staff were all very kind. They have their own food truck that's always there now too.

Came to the Trap because my wife and I love history. Ended up meeting some really friendly people. Burger was juicy and fries were crispy. And to my pleasant surprise they had mixed two beers together and it tasted delicious. Ask the bartender when you get there. I dont want to spoil the surprise. Checl their instagram for their events.

This old dive has been a fixture on Riverside for over 50 years and feels homey and intimate. They serve only beer and wine which means less overly marinated patrons and thus, few if any fights and lots of friendly banter all around. They have 2 outdoor areas, one paved patio and one bigger and mostly shaded "yard" where dogs with owners are usually quite welcome and, at the same time is not a dog toilet, as one might expect. I am sad that they removed the horseshoe pits from out there. They were the side yard's raison d'etre but in today's world of people who love to complain, I suppose they found it best to give in. Perhaps the fools who built an elementary school virtually AROUND this ancient watering hole/beloved neighborhood fixture found the clanking on occasional afternoons to be too much for their very sedate and quiet student body. They also removed a 7 or 8 hundred year old fig tree instead of letting their students and staff appreciate it's rare and formidable beauty and historic significance. But. I digress. The Trap has been the preferred spot for winding up or down in the Greenhaven Pocket - so much that a locally residing contingent of Sacramento Kings BB players were there celebrating on the down-low, away from crowds and joyous, rowdy fans the night they finally prevailed over LA in the playoffs after a long drawn out battle with their biggest rivals. Turns out they were as interested in the Trap Ghost's first hand witnesses' stories as any game of pool, dice or darts. Anyway, the new owners have brought in bean bag toss to replace the noisy ol' horseshoes but unfortunately, they have also replaced the awesome sound system with a very noticably lesser version though the digital techie juke box remains. The floor under the 2 old pool tables seems to have been reinforced though it still slants toward a back corner and because of limitations due to code laws that will void all the grandfathered in exceptions and require a full reconing to bring it all up to code completely if and significant upgrades are done. I think that this funky old place where my parents often partied 'till well after 2 AM (behind a locked front door of course) will continue to attract locals with it's quirky charm and robust history for years to come. Unless, of course , the school and it's patrons forget that The Trap was there waaay waaay before they chose to put their classrooms directly adjacent to robust and locally very popular neighborhood BAR! Around these parts, we sincerely hope that The Trap is not squeezed out by "progress" and remains a symbol of our connection to the almost adjacent Sacramento River and all the folks who have been lucky enough to enjoy living...

Came here with a friend for their Love Island watch party and it was both our first times here. This is a smallish dive bar off a kind busy road but don’t write it off as somewhere you can’t have a good night at. The inside bar area is kinda small but you can tell there’s regulars that have made this their go to.

They have a karaoke touch tunes machine and a pool table. There’s tvs on the inside and outside, and the outdoor area is great! It’s very spacious and they have a covered portion. There’s also a picnic table in the front you could sit at too. We got the one of the drink specials and it was tasty, the fries we ordered came out hot and crispy.

The energy was awesome with how many people showed up for the watch party and this would definitely be a cool place for a laid back night out. They have a pretty nice food menu, lots of beer and wine, soju, and you can tell they have fun events centering sports. Also apparently female owned! The only hitch for me was the parking mostly because it was so busy but I was able to park nearby. Definitely will want...

Love this neighborhood bar! New owner and wonderful renovations. This place has a "Cheers" type atmosphere and has become my go to comfort hangout. The Trap is a wine and beer bar and I'm liking that more and more! They have added so many fun nightly events including trivia, karaoke and wine and paint night. Everyone wins here, as they support small businesses and entrepreneurs. The food trucks and bbq dinners are on point! Two lovely patios with ambient lighting and just an all around great vibe. They also have pool tables AND REAL dartboards I love the staff too! Everyone is so friendly and this place really feels like my second home🩷 so fun and cozy with a...
