Nick's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Saddle Brook

Bolstered by the rave reviews, my husband and I made a special trip to visit this humble sandwich shop. Right off the bat, the presentation deserves gold stars. These sandwiches aren't small; each half is likely a pretty hearty meal on its own, and when served on decorative wax paper and a wooden serving board, it's a pretty sight.

That said, nothing really wowed. I ordered the vodka parmigiana sandwich while my husband went with the sausage sandwich. The orders took some time to come out, which felt like an assurance that things were being prepared fresh, but I was surprised at how lukewarm the chicken cutlet, sauce, and sausage pieces were. On the plus side, the bread is the seeded variety (in my book, the ultimate type for a sandwich) and nicely toasted. My husband thought his sausage sandwich needed some sort of a sauce, to which the owners happily obliged with some ketchup. It helped, but his overall impression of his meal was similar to my own - good, not great.

While our meal didn't blow us away, what everyone else has shared about the owners is true. These are the nicest, most welcoming folks behind the counter. They greeted us the moment we entered and guided us through the bestsellers...

From the moment I walked in, I was immediately greeted with smiles and absolute friendliness. That’s hard to come by nowadays! I have worked many years in the fast casual food industry and overall in customer-facing roles and when I tell you the environment immediately felt comfortable to me. Carlos was so friendly and genuinely wanted to explain what was popular and what was on the menu. I love to see someone being passionate about what they know because I am the exact same way. You can’t fake the passion and genuine enthusiasm! The Chicken Panini & Custom Wrap were both absolutely delicious the cutlet reviews are REAL (100% Italian so I know about a good cutlet). I must say, Nick's Sandwich Shop exceeded my expectations! The sandwich I had was absolutely delicious, fresh meat and packed with flavor. I tried the #1 (ham, salami, and provolone), and wow, I was beyond pleased.

I also had the empanadas and tried the beef, which was incredibly tasty. And now, I’m enjoying the sausage, it’s just as good! I’m so happy TikTok led me here because everything has been fantastic. The sandwiches are fresh, the food is delicious, and the staff is so kind and welcoming.

My daughter loved it as well and can’t stop talking about how good the food is. Her words: “It’s super good!”
