Coty's Landing — Restaurant in Saginaw Charter Township

I have gone to Coty's several times and the food and atmosphere are normally fantastic. Yesterday was unfortunately more than a poor experience. There were 4 of us and I ordered the Black and Bleu Salmon salad and drinks. When we received our meals, my friend went to grab her silverware and my dressing accidentally spilled. We cleaned it and asked for a new side of dressing. The waitress said she would have to charge me. I was confused why I would be charged for the dressing and I politely asked to speak to the manager, and the owner came over and asked how she could help. I let her know what happened and she told me I would have to be charged. I said it spilled and she told me if someone wanted a second dressing, they would be charged. I explained that was not the situation here, and then she said "I'm not in the business of giving out free food". I was baffled by the response and stated that I am paying for a $26.00 salad and it was an accident. I asked her for the cost of another dressing and she said between $.50 and $.99, as feta vinegarette is the most expensive in her words. Well I was charged $1.29 for my side of dressing. It is not the cost of the dressing but the condescending statement she made as though I was trying to get "free food" with a side of dressing and was also an arrogant way of letting us know she does not mind losing our business. In all transparency there were no inappropriate verbal exchanges, the waitress was nice and did a great job, my friend left a ripped dollar bill on the table (she was upset), and I tipped the waitress. My experience with coty’s landing restaurant was horrible not once but three times. The first time they forgot my side I called and they told me it was nothing they could do. The second time I ate there my shrimp was old and rough, I didn’t call because of what they told me before. My friend told me that she went there recently and everything was great so me and my boyfriend decided to try it again. My boyfriend ordered some boneless wings with sauce on the side and some fries. For me He order the traditional wings and fries (of course with sauce on the side). When we received our order my boyfriend boneless wings was old and rough sadly and he was missing his fries. Coty’s closed shortly after we got our food so we couldn’t call back. We called the next day and one of the employees were going back in forth with us telling us that the food wasn’t old even thought he also said that he wasn’t working that day. We called the next day to see If the manager was there and she got on the phone not even trying to listen to us and basically telling us that there is nothing that she can do due to the fact that we were going back and forth with the employee (which we had the right too). She also said that she was there 95% of the time when we were on the phone with the employee and she never took over the phone called that day either. She also hung up on us twice. I had their grilled chicken southwest salad (believe that's the right name). Black beans, corn, nice mix of salad greens. Could have used a little more substantial chip. They chose a very thin chip that tends to get lost in salad and not offer quite as much crunch. The dressing was very good. The chicken was grilled perfectly and a fair portion. This is all subjective to personal taste. So far as preparation.. the cold was cold, the hot was hot. Portion was decent, though would have liked a little more for the 12 plus dollar price.

Service was excellent, from ordering ahead to delivery to my vehicle. One small complaint. They did not include plastic ware, nor did they ask if I needed it. I'm sure it would have been provided, had I remembered to ask, but I'd just finished a 14 hour work day and didn't think of it. For a 12 dollar salad, would it really hurt profits to include a plastic fork. At least ask if it's needed. Maybe they normally ask.. just she and I missed the detail at the same time.
