Cheeseburger in Paradise — Restaurant in Saint Croix

I will start my review by saying the atmosphere, food & drinks were absolutely amazing. Our service on the other hand was not. The 3 of us were greeted and set by the manager as soon as we arrived & told our server would be over shortly. After 25 minutes of no server coming to us, and multiple other new tables around us being serviced (some already receiving food) we politely had to ask to be served. After another almost 20 minutes our server finally came to take our order. We also intentionally placed 2 Togo orders at the time of ordering our meals so that way when we were finished we could go about our way. 35 minutes later we received our food, and our server then told us she would be putting our Togo order in now… we didn’t say anything but asked for a couple drinks, she stated she would need a pen & didn’t come back for another 20 minutes to take the other drink orders. At this point we tried to be proactive and ask for Togo boxes & our checks that way when our togos were ready we could leave. She never came back.. our togos took an hour to receive (which is understandable as they did become busy shortly after our meals were served). After we received of togos we again had to ask for our checks. Our checks were brought to us but she never came back to accept the payment. I gave 3 stars because the burger was good and the place has a nice atmosphere. However, the service was HORRIBLE. I'm usually pretty forgiving, especially when places are busy (which they were), because I've been a server before. To start one lady took our drink and appetizer order but then we were passed off to another lady. We never received our chips and salsa. From the time we placed our order it was at least 45 minutes before we got our food. In that 45 minutes, the waitress never came by to see if we needed anything or to apologize for the long wait. Therefore, we all had empty drinks for quite some time as well. I watched the lady and it did not appear we were even in her section, as her other tables were no where near us. I'm assuming this is why we were forgotten. When we asked for the check we were told to give her a minute she had other people to take care of and it took another 20 minutes for her to bring it. To top it off, when we received our bill there was an 18% gratuity added to the bill. There were only four of us so I asked about it and was told they add gratuity to all bills and that it's stated on the menu that it's their policy. I don't ever not leave a tip, but the poor service we received did not deserve a $10 tip (that was only for two of us). I guess there's no need to work for it if they're automatically charging it. Update-2024: HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!!!

Cheeseburgers has gotten soooo much better since closing down and reopening under new ownership. Its funny because after my experience I wasn’t going back, despite the fact I knew they reopened, however they’re advertisements of Birria tacos and karaoke called to like the ocean called to Moana…. Needless to say, great improvement. I’ve been back several times since.

The food is delicious, the service has improved majorly, the people are friendly and happy to be there. The drinks are delicious. I only have positive things to say at this point.

Cheeseburgers is doing all the right things and the new ownership should be proud of the great strides they’ve brought for the restaurant.

Even the entertainment is a hoot- comedy bingo was a hilarious riot and their Karaoke is well done and fosters a togetherness in the crowd. Some day we plan to go back and actually dance to the live band, what can I say we’ve been back many many times since .
