For years we have wanted to go to the bakery but it was always closed at the time we drove by. This past week we were able to stop in after eating lunch at the Happy Clam. They close at 2 pm, so we hustled in at 1:15 . There were only a few options, that all looked parbaked. Scones, fruit filled twists and a few loaves of bread. The lady behind the counter didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all. I bought a lemon filled pastry which was absolutely horrible. The dough was pale and flavorless and there was the smallest amount of canned lemon filling inside. After we paid the lady handed me the bag and walked away to the back. Glad we tried it, because we won't be back again.

Carol and Marc are two very kind folks that I had the pleasure of interacting with over the last several years during the summer at Schoolhouse Bakery. Their cinnamon rolls, whoopie pies, scones, and croissants are out of this world and some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s safe to say I’ll never find another Schoolhouse Bakery, and while I’m incredibly sad to see them close in October, I’m happy for them that they’re entering retired life. Cheers to you two, and to 29 years of hard work! Thank you!

After reading some of the reviews, we had set our tastebuds on a berry pie. We were lucky and were able to get a blueberry pie. It did not disappoint and was delicious! We’ll be going back to sample the other baked goods - especially the giant cinnamon rolls.

Been visiting here for years and consistently have similar experiences. The husband is positively wonderful and kind. The wife is not very pleasant. My step dad, who is one of the nicest people you'd ever meet, took the challenge to make her smile with every visit. That generally didn't happen if memory serves me correctly. We keep going as the food has always been great and want small family owned businesses to make it. If Maine were all Wal Marts and McDonalds it wouldn't be Maine. I have a part time business myself and truly hope this is constructive criticism and not just nasty and cowardly insults. Ma'am, if you could just smile and be a bit folksy it would make folks feel better. Every interaction with a person is a chance to make the world a better place. Word travels fast around here. My mom is on her way for the first purchase in two years. The next sentence will state if anything has changed. The food is...

Did end up giving them 2 stars because the bakery was pretty decent - however the older lady behind the counter was rude. We went in and started ordering baked goods for our stay and when we got to 4 pieces she turned to the other worker and said “I wish they would have told me they were getting more” And then took the items out of the bag and starting putting them in a box. Maybe start the conversation off with - how many items will you be buying this morning. What a shame as the place appears to be a nice establishment but (we assume) is the owner just puts a bad...
