We have had two horrible experiences at Fish Rock Grille, and two decent ones. The horrible ones outweigh the decent ones, so that's why I'm giving two stars instead of meeting in the middle at 3 stars. The most recent horrible experience was Easter Sunday. We arrived at our reservation time, and were told they were behind seating people. At that time we were not told that they were having major issues in the kitchen. We incorrectly assumed that people were just staying and talking longer since it was after all Easter Sunday. We decided to wait, and I so wish we hadn't! We were sat an hour after we arrived. We still were not really bothered by that, because again it's Easter Sunday. Our waitress arrived, got our drink order, and brought our drinks right out. At that time the waitress informed us that the kitchen was "a little backed up", and that there would be a wait for our food, but we were told that in the meantime they would be bringing around some pastries, and refilling our drinks. We hadn't eaten yet, and it was getting to be later in the day so we didn't want to leave and try to find another place to eat in spite of having reservations made well in advance. We ordered our first entrees, and then the wait began. At first our waitress seemed attentive. As I said our first drinks were brought out quickly. She even brought out a pastry each, a thing of mixed fruit, and a parfait each. At this point we started to feel glad we stayed, but that didn't last very long. We were on the patio where it started to warm up as it is after all St. George. Had we known that from start to finish we would be there 3 hours and 45 minutes we would not have chosen the warm patio, but we didn't know so we sat outside. Our drinks got empty, and our waitress was nowhere to be seen. For an almost 4 hour timeframe we got two refills when seated outside on a warm day. Aside from that when after over 2 hours we received our first entrees (these are small entrees as it's all you can eat they give you 3 small dishes at a time, at least that's how it's supposed to work) there were two dishes with "poached eggs". One was completely raw besides the very outer layer, and the other egg was hardboiled. There was a kind of corn cake on these dishes that was so overcooked it was hard, and inedible. In order to be able to finally eat some food we had to pull that corn cake off both dishes, as well as the raw egg. The "stuffed French toast" was really just French toast topped with berries. The "Tennessee French toast" had an also very overcooked and inedible chicken tender, or patty. That had to be removed from the plate as well. There was zero chance I was paying $30 a person for that small of serving sizes so we decided to order one more set of entrees. This food was somewhat faster, and I don't mean it was fast, but it wasn't a 2 hour wait. Everything we ordered was cold with the exception of the fish which was hot and the only decent item out of all of them. The waitress told us that the chef was preparing a bunch of food for people that just left. Since it was a buffet with a limited menu one would imagine this meant that they had a bunch of entrees prepared and no one there to eat them except everyone else that was hungry and upset and hadn't simply walked out. If that was the case they should have given others the option of getting whatever was ready until whatever they ordered was done, but they didn't do that. In all the service was bad, the food was worse, and we still left hungry and had wasted our Easter. When we left the hostess asked how it was. She was apologetic, but there was no attempt whatsoever to remedy the situation. The other bad time we went was also a holiday. We went on New Year's eve a couple of years back when they had also overbooked. They had no seating, no food, and it was prepaid. We were promised our $200 would be refunded, but it never was in spite of multiple calls. We wanted so bad to love this restaurant as it's local and in a beautiful area, but we are met with high prices, sometimes edible food, and...
Read moreMade reservations a month in advance for Mother’s Day Brunch for six people. The hostess led us through the dining room outside to the patio. The 3 ladies in our party thought that it was a little cool to be eating outside so I asked the hostess if we could be seated inside and she said that all the seating was preassigned and that it would cause too much confusion if they had to start switching people around. I explained that I had made reservations a month earlier and did not asked to be seated outside and that it was too cool for some of our party. Besides, about a third of the tables indoors were vacant. She explained that if they started switching guests, that it would start creating problems. So I asked to speak to the manager and after explaining my situation to her, she said that they could seat us in the lounge, which I agreed to. She took us into the lounge which was completely empty and pulled 2 tables together to accommodate us and left. We went and got our food at the buffet and returned about 10 minutes later. There was no silverware or napkins so I had to go out and asked a waiter for water and silverware. Five minutes later I had to get up and again ask someone if they could take our drink orders. Finally a waiter came by and took our order. What was supposed to be a special day was a big...
Read moreWe just went today for the mother’s day brunch. It was the worst service we ever had. We were sat down at a table and told nothing. About 15 mins after awkwardly sitting at our table a busser brought us out water and left. Then another 5 mins came by and another busser came out and saw us awkwardly sitting there and asked if anyone told us how today worked. We said no so he explained that our waitress would come out and get our drink order, there was hot food inside and cold outside and plates on each table and we could help ourselves. We waited about 15 mins and still no waitress so we went and got some food. Most all of the food was gone or very minimal left that was all dried out. We sat down again fed my 1 year old the food and we didn’t eat anything. About 20 mins after that we asked finally got a waitress to come to us and she asked if we needed anything else. We let her know this was the first time someone has talked to us and we were done and ready to leave now. She said oh sorry I thought you were being helped and handed us a $110 bill.. took our plates and left. 😳 seriously the worst service I ever had and so damn expensive. I am very very disappointed in this place. I would not reccomend to anyone...
