It's the season of travel tribulations if you live in the shadow of Lake Michigan, and the GF and I were up in St. Joe to attend to a bit of business. Seeking a lunch break and having missed breakfast, the nearby options were limited if we wanted to keep on schedule. I thought Mexican sounded nice, but the fact that we only had roughly half an hour was what pushed us in the direction of the closest chain restaurants. We opted for Panera, as the girlfriend is vegetarian. The Five Guys next door was surely right out. I'm not usually a Panera customer, and not familiar with the menu outside of "bread," but I'm thrilled we stopped in. I had the edamame soba noodle bowl, which was perfectly good for chain restaurant fare (it tasted more of a Vietnamese spin on the dish than the Japanese you might expect); the GF had a caprese sandwich and a bowl of soup that I forget now that I'm gone, both of which she enjoyed. At the time of placing our order, we were informed by the counter staff that due to the snow and blustery conditions that they'd be closing at 3, a scant two and a half hours from when we'd arrived. And so, they were simply giving away all the baked goods for that day instead of throwing it out. Eventually there was a bit of a rush in, but the gal working the bakery counter graciously gave us what few things we requested, and we left that place happier than we went in, which I think is really probably the best thing you can say about a place in the food service industry. Both of the girls at the counter had wonderful attitudes, as well as the one who brought us our meals. Sadly there are few places left to which you are total stranger and can expect the same. I can tell you with certainty, though, that the next time I'm in St. Joseph, Michigan and in need of a quick bite, Panera will be the first place I think of. Four stars awarded for the food and the experience, with a fifth star given for the generosity and staff, as well as for this curious fellow outside the door (picture attached).

The customer service and organization needs to be worked on at this location. Many people were waiting 20+ minutes on orders. One girl was waiting more than 30 minutes for her pick up order. I worked in a kitchen before, and with that many people working, there was no reason why people were waiting more than 30 minutes for their orders. The staff was also incredibly rude if you asked about your order. I asked if they could tell me how long my order was going to take, because I didn’t have 30 minutes to wait, and that I would need a refund if that was the case. (I’m on my lunch at work, which is why I pre-ordered through the app). She asked me what my name was, so I told her my name. She proceeded to tell me I had a drive-through pick up, and started flashing somebody else’s food receipt in my face. I let her know that no I did not have a drive-through pick up, and that the name on the receipt was not my name. So then she proceeds to tell me that she’ll just give me a refund since she doesn’t have my order. She really thought she was correct when she was flashing the other person received an order around in my face. However, when I corrected her, she no longer wanted to deal with the situation, and would have rather just give me back my money instead of actually try to figure out what happened with my order. I really hope that in the future the staff does better better because this is absolutely beneath the Panera standard of operation. On top of the terrible customer service, they messed up my order. Receipts says no red onions, yet there they are. Worst Panera experience ever.

I am not a fan of the automation at Panera. You place your order yourself and pick up your own food. I had a buzzer to tell me when my food was ready, but I saw my food sitting at the pick up area for three or four minutes-so I took it..and my buzzer never went off. Also, since no one is working at the register… It seems like the restaurant should be very clean with the extra staff working in those areas… But as you can see in the pictures, things were kind of messy. But I sure love the French onion soup and as long as they continue serving it very hot, I will probably continue to eat it - even though I am unhappy about the new way I have to order!

As a vegetarian, finding delicious and satisfying options can sometimes be a challenge. However, Panera Bread has always been a reliable and exceptional choice for veggie lovers like myself. With its diverse menu and commitment to high-quality ingredients, Panera Bread offers a veggie paradise filled with delicious and wholesome fare.

One of the highlights of Panera Bread's menu is its selection of vegetarian soups. The Vegetarian Autumn Squash Soup is a personal favorite, with its velvety texture, rich flavors, and the perfect blend of seasonal spices. Paired with a freshly baked bread bowl or a side of their artisan bread, it creates a comforting and fulfilling meal.

Panera Bread's salads are a veggie lover's dream come true. The Greek Salad, with its crisp romaine lettuce, juicy tomatoes, tangy Kalamata olives, crunchy cucumbers, and creamy feta cheese, is a refreshing explosion of Mediterranean flavors. The Green Goddess Cobb Salad, packed with avocado, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, and mixed greens, offers a satisfying combination of textures and tastes.

For sandwiches, Panera Bread offers several delicious vegetarian options. The Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich, with its layers of hummus, feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and fresh greens, is a flavor-packed delight. The Tomato Mozzarella Flatbread, topped with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and a drizzle of basil pesto, is a light and satisfying choice.

Panera Bread also caters to vegans, with several plant-based options available. Their vegan-friendly menu includes the Baja Grain Bowl, a colorful and nutritious blend of quinoa, black bean and corn salsa, avocado, and cilantro lime dressing. The Ten Vegetable Soup, filled with a medley of vibrant vegetables in a hearty vegetable broth, is another vegan favorite.

Aside from the main menu, Panera Bread's bakery section also offers vegan and vegetarian-friendly options. Their freshly baked breads, including the Whole Grain and Sourdough varieties, are a perfect accompaniment to any meal. And don't forget to check out their vegan-friendly pastries, like the Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie or the Vegan Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, for a sweet treat.

The staff at Panera Bread consistently delivers exceptional service, ensuring that dietary preferences and restrictions are met with care and attention. They are knowledgeable about the ingredients used in each dish and are happy to provide guidance and recommendations.

In conclusion, Panera Bread is a vegetarian's paradise, offering a wide range of delicious and wholesome options. From comforting soups and refreshing salads to flavorful sandwiches and vegan-friendly choices, Panera Bread has something to satisfy every veggie lover's cravings. With its commitment to high-quality ingredients and a warm and inviting atmosphere, Panera Bread remains a top...
