Everything about Dayton's is inconsistent, unfortunately.
Sometimes, things are nice and relatively busy and you get your food and you have a good time.
Other times, the restaurant is beyond packed with a huge wait, with the back, unlit room you can see with plenty of tables and chairs just being completely unused for real stated reason.
Sometimes the food and drinks literally have mold in them and are expired. Sometimes the meatloaf tastes great. Sometimes it's garbage. Sometimes the food is dry, sometimes it's moist. Even things like the gravy is a toss-up. The sides are okay, but even those vary in flavor.
The waiters, too, are inconsistent. Sometimes food will take forever with no updates, sometimes they get the order wrong several times in a row, sometimes they're friendly, but sometimes they seem beyond stressed and definitely want you to hurry up.
I even spotted a chef eating Royal Farms chicken in the back room...without gloves, and not washing his hands before preparing more food.
Most recently, I was nearly assaulted as I went to the bathroom, as a man hidden in a dark corner of the room, who was pacing around, suddenly began to follow me and was nearly pinning me in a corner til I managed til I started being as loud as possible, his groin maybe an inch from me.
I heard the manager is nice, but considering all that goes on in his restaurant, I can't say I'm impressed.
I personally find the menu very limited. Sometimes I just end up ordering a hot dog because nothing on the main menu is very appealing. Sometimes food is out, too, despite being a special.
I have had quite a few positive experiences with them, but, as stated, everything is so inconsistent that I can't imagine betting on spending...
Read moreI’ve dined here a couple of times and always loved it. Today I decided to do Carryout, wrong choice. First I tried calling, no answer every time I tried. When I went in the lady sitting by the door rudely said “you can seat yourself”, I didn’t know where to order the Carryout from. Went over and placed the order, in which they must have misheard when I asked for a side of mashed potatoes and instead got chips. So I go to pay, I give the rude lady by the door exact change. I assumed I would be getting a receipt (I did not), I suppose me standing there waiting for my receipt interrupted her conversation she was having with a table next to her, and she looks up and says “you gave me exact change so?” Excuse me I’m sorry maybe I wanted my receipt or to tell you I was going to leave and come back in a few minutes (since I didn’t know if that was ok). Get my food bring it home and I got a hot turkey sandwich with fries, there were nasty bread and butter pickles under my fries ruined those for me, and again I ordered mashed potatoes for my boyfriends meal and he got chips. I don’t know what I exactly paid for though considering I wasn’t given or offered a receipt. Anyway, I used to give this place good reviews to other people, and now it has all changed. I felt unwelcomed because I didn’t know the right way to order and pay and etc, the lady that sits by the door was ridiculous and she should not be in customer service, and the food they should pay a little bit more attention to. I have a sick 1 year old so I was unable to bring the food back once I was home and when I called they yet again did not answer. So I am highly disappointed. Gave three stars because I did have two other nice experiences here, but my...
Read moreMyself, my husband, and our 2 year old child went in today to try and enjoy a nice meal with great staff but that is the furthest experience we encountered. Our waitress was rude, she messed up our order. I thought maybe she's having a bad day, I was letting that go. My 2 year old son was getting a little fussy because we were waiting so long for our food & the older lady at the register decides to yell out in front of everybody "ma'am your going to have to take your child out of here if he keeps being fussy because I am stick and tired of hearing him and enough is enough" it was very rude and unprofessional and she said it so everyone could hear her. We were so upset we didn't even finish our meal. We got to go boxes and asked to speak with a manager or the owner and they said he wasn't in. When I went up to pay to the same lady I told her she was very rude & my child was 2 years old, she proceeded to say "she didn't care and she was sick and tired of hearing him" I felt so disrespectfed. Then another waitress had came over & told me that the older lady wasn't being rude to me as her voice was getting louder. , She started being very unprofessional as well. My total experience from the time we walked in to the time we walked out was very unprofessional & unenjoyable. I will never eat at this establishment again. Daytons might need to hire younger employees with a little bit more patience. Overall, a...
