We have eaten at this restaurant before and it was very good. Not sure what happened but yesterday it was horrible food and service. To start with I ordered country fried steak and was told they had been out of that for a couple days. Next ordered fish with baked potato. Only to be told they don’t really have baked potatoes. I pointed out the menu says they do. I was told they have twice baked potatoes. That’s not true either. What they have are frozen potatoes with a little cheese on them. Finally we just ordered ton give them a chance because they were busy. After an hour they started bringing out our food. One plate at a time with about 15 minutes between each plate. My daughter ordered a medium rare steak and was brought a well done steak. They did take it back and said they would get her another one. My husband ordered the French dip sandwich. After an hour and 1/2 of being told it would be done soon he decided he didn’t want it because everyone else was through with their food. Of course my daughter didn’t have her steak yet either. When we asked if they could just remove those from the bill since we had not received them. The server said no but we could talk to manager. Her solution was to take the food to go because it would be done soon. After about 15 minutes she decided to take the two dinners off because they just didn’t make the French dip. When the new bill was presented I noticed there was a 3% charge for credit card usage. I had never said we were paying with a credit card. I don’t mind paying the service charge but I’m not paying it if I don’t use a credit card. The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is my granddaughter said the club sandwich she ordered was good. This was the worst dining experience we have ever had on the lake. Beside the terrible food and service the manager was not concerned about the fact that it took 2 hours and we still did not have all our food. We knew there would be a wait due to it being Sunday afternoon, but nothing like this. Save your money and your time and go somewhere else. The only good thing about this restaurant...
Read moreWe ate there tonight and will NOT be going back again. The food was ok, but for the price they charge it absolutely was not THAT good and the service was horrible. You’d think for $14 a plate for Hamburger Steak that it would come with gravy and your choice of 2 side items. But, it does not come with gravy and you can’t even request it. And, one of your side items has to be either soup or salad. Who wants to eat soup with their hamburger steak? The salad consists of lettuce, lettuce, lettuce and a little bit of shredded cheese, about 4 croutons and about that many bits of bacon bits, lol. If you order grilled asparagus for your 2nd side item, get ready for only about 6-7 pieces of it. And, don’t go if you are really really hungry, because you’re going to have a long long wait for your food, and then you’re going to have to wait for your salad to come after your steak. They didn’t even offer us any rolls and butter like they used to. When we finally did get our food they brought my hamburger steak and asparagus out on a plate, but not my mother’s. And we both ordered the hamburger steak at the same time. By the time they finally brought hers out I was half way thru with my steak, and still didn’t have my salad. I had to ask for our salads again when they brought my mother’s plate. When they brought the salads she had 2 lil cups of dressing with hers, I had one. After they finally got all our food out to us, they never came back to the table to check to see if we needed anything else or if our drinks needed to be refilled. Maybe that was because we only ordered water. Pros - You have a nice view of the lake. Cons - Poor customer service, long long wait, nothing complimentary, prices...
Read moreWe live in Tipton County came to the Boat House after the tornado last year. We loved The Lakeview and had tried a couple of the other restaurants in the area. We stopped looking when we found The Boat House. We came back this week and stayed at Southshore Resort for 4 nights. We ate here Thursday and Friday nights. They are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The fried catfish is perfectly seasoned and fried fresh. We had the slaw, fries, white beans, and green beans. I had the catfish both nights and Joe had the chef’s salad the second night. All of the sides were were flavorful especially, the white and green beans. Joe’s salad was a great portion with ham, bacon and good, crisp veggies. The staff is all very friendly and attentive. The view is perfect of the lake and the sunset beautiful, whether from the restaurant or the park outside. We will definitely be back for my birthday in October, if not sooner just for the catfish! The owners, Kerry and Joann, are the perfect hosts! It is definitely worth the short, pretty...
