Now I’m more then sure I’ll get a response from the owner saying how sorry and how prices gone up cuz of blah blah blah, like gas . But the other bakeries don’t have gouging problems. As far as expanding , I don’t see it. To many competitors ma’am. Reality check,,,,,People also look for reasonable affordable prices for gas and everything that we live for. Ok now,,,, 6 pieces of bread ,,,, 12 bucks. Growing up as a kid in the neighborhood I remember Chico the original owner. Im 50 years old now,, I was 9 then. A doughnut was 10 cents back then …. Geeze now it’s ridiculous! I heard the daughter took over and used the excuse that every business uses , “do to Covid prices have increased “ . Ok Covid is over lady. I’m sorry, sweet bread is good but not enough that people in the neighborhood and people that grew up around the area and has been there to support this place have to pay that much for bakery bread. Really outrageous prices ! I just go to fiesta bakery on Pleasanton rd. Baked daily , good sweet bread , home made tortillas, and very reasonable prices like every other bakery on the south side . And That why fiesta bakery is always packed. Good bread and good prices. And, For her to change her dads business name from chicos to chicas,,,, well,,,,, what does that say? 😂 just saying . I would’ve left it as remembrance of the man who built it. I wouldn’t recommend this place to any of my friends , as much as they like sweets , lol!!! They’ll go broke at this place 😂🤣maybe they should build in la cantera with all that expensive bread they sell. 😂 What a shame! Sorry Chico, I feel for you . Well I waited on that response,,, an original! Well maybe you can keep the flies out of your store in the La Cantera area. Js and yes not a fan,, but thank you for your...

3rd time we have bought the cinnamon twist each time it is 1/2 cooked raw dough inside. The prices are not marked so each time we go different pricing on everything. The tamales were awesome the first few times but the last 3times wrapped very messy not consistent. Unfortunately will not be returning the first couple times it was good went downhill after that because as much as it is should be the best and unfortunately it has not. As you can tell in the picture the twist was not cooked properly very doughy.

Thank you for the reply: our reply is:

We truly understand everyone makes mistakes but when it is food you do need to make sure your employees are making sure the food is cooked thoroughly. Unfortunately their mistakes or lack of caring look bad on your business. We hate leaving neg. reviews but this was the 3rd time in the twist and 2nd time on the tamales. Thank you for the offer but we will pass. We did not leave the review to be mean but just to bring it to your attention. When we first started going there we promoted your business handing out your business card to a lot of people we do care about local small businesses and at first it was good just can’t promote any more. God bless you as well it is not easy listening to errors but that’s how businesses fix...

This is the closest bakery to me. I really wanted to love this place as it's a small business. Service is always great but sometimes can be pushy offering other items when I come in for just one thing.

The chicken tamales is probably the only thing I'll come back for. They were fresh went I came to get them on Thanksgiving. Very tasty!

I'm so sorry, Chica.. I really wanted to love your sweet bread but I have to be honest.. I will not come back for sweet bread.

The bread tastes a bit off, I’m not sure why.. it just has a funky taste and all of my pastries we got were old..😞 possibly a day or two old. Two of them had cream and the cream smelled bad. It’s expensive as we got 8 pastries for $21 and we had to throw it away. I felt a bit ripped off as I wanted to go back for my money but this would be my last time.

Our first time here, we got donuts but all were very oily and the chocolate was runny because they were fresh as I appreciate the freshness.. I don’t appreciate runny oily chocolate donuts.. the chocolate made a mess in the bag and my hand. 😞 Every time went here, we had to try something different to give it a chance but we can’t anymore.

Wish you all the...
