One and done for me. I wasn't feeling seafood so I ordered the chicken enchiladas in roja. The sauce reminded me of what I make at home, and I love my homemade sauce. But the chicken was a bit chewy and there wasn't enough sauce. The rice was room temp and the everything was under seasoned.
My partner got carne asada and grilled shrimp. The steak was under seasoned and chewy and the shrimp weren't peeled, which he didn't realize until he but into one.
Our server was nice but never came back to refill drinks or check on us.
All this isn't bad enough to make me write it off, but hold on.
Chips and salsa were brought out but the chips were whole tostada shells in Ziploc bags in a basket. At one point I took the Ziploc bags out of the basket and the basket was dirty with a lot of crumbs that were not ours. That basket had clearly not been washed.
Later, I saw the busser hauling ass and doing a great job collecting trash and dishes from tables, but he left all the salsas and bags of chips. I expected him to throw out the bags, even if they were still full, because health code. But he left all of the bags of chips on the tables. Later someone else came out with a tray and collected the abandoned bags of chips and all the bottles of salsa and took them back to the kitchen.
I'm not saying I'm certain they send previous table's chips to a new table, but I can't imagine why the Ziploc baggies would have made their way back to the kitchen unless it is with the intent to reuse the ones that look like they haven't been opened.
I really really hope that's not what's happening, but my instincts are telling me not to go back, so I won't.
I will say, the bathroom was very clean, but the floor in the entire restaurant was incredibly...
Read moreI had a really bad experience with the shrimp tacos I ordered.
I requested both grilled and fried shrimp tacos, but I only received the grilled ones. To make matters worse, the cook left the shrimp tails on, and I nearly choked on them. The food was absolutely terrible and disgusted me.
As someone who has been a loyal customer for years, I am deeply disappointed. I feel that I have no choice but to find a new Mexican seafood restaurant due to this awful shrimp tail incident. In addition, it is way to loud inside. You can't hold a conversation due to the noise level.
8/2/2023:
I recently decided to give Bucaneros another chance, hoping for a better experience this time. However, I must say that I was thoroughly disappointed. The prices at this establishment were exorbitantly high, considering the quality of the food served.
First and foremost, the food left much to be desired. The taste was subpar, and the presentation was underwhelming. It felt like no effort was put into ensuring a satisfying culinary experience. I found myself struggling to finish the dishes, as they were simply awful.
Moreover, the prices were unjustifiably steep. I expected a certain level of quality and flavor to match the inflated prices, but unfortunately, that was not the case. It was disheartening to pay such a hefty amount for such mediocre food.
The overall experience at Bucaneros was regrettable. The combination of high prices and tasteless food left a bitter taste in my mouth. I believe there are far better dining options available that offer superior quality at more reasonable prices. I would caution others to think twice before considering this establishment for their...
Read moreHad been going here for many years. At least my last twenty visits I had brought in my gluten free chips to enjoy my meal without any issues. I don’t eat the tostadas they have there anymore because even though they taste great, they’re fried and Im just trying to eat healthier.
Last night I was going in with a group of friends (party of eight) and the two girls at the door told me I couldn’t go in with “outside food” as it said on a sign at the door. I explained there were just some chips and that I had done this MANY times before in that same restaurant without any issues. They said it was POLICY and that it couldn’t be done.
I went in to the cashier where there were more employees and explained situation and they too ignored my petition and said it was POLICY.
I was REALLY upset as I told them there were just some chips!!! They DO NOT SELL CHIPS!!!! it’s not like they were losing sales because of me not buying their house chips which they don’t even have….. they have FREE tostadas!!!
Anyway, I told my friends the situation and we ended up leaving. it was a stupid thing to be honest and the lack of comprehension of their employees was insulting. It’s really sad to see an establishment have uneducated people working there and not have common sense.
They lost a customer last night (which I honestly think they don’t even care) for a stupid, VERY stupid reason.
We ended up in a nearby sea food restaurant called Costa Pacífica and had no issues bringing in my chips. Food was great and we had a very fun night.
To the owners of El Bucanero: Seems your employees need a little more common sense and a whole more training in the Customer...
