⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m not usually a fan of Mexican food—I typically prefer Brazilian steakhouses—but I decided to visit Las Trompas while in San Antonio after hearing it was one of the best taco spots in the world. I’m glad I did.

After a 17-minute drive from our Airbnb, we arrived to find an atmosphere that was warm, authentic, and full of energy. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. I tried the green tacos and tacos al pastor—easily the best tacos I’ve ever had. For the first time in my life, I actually rated tacos—and gave them a 10/10.

The owner and chef has a vibrant personality, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Everything from the ambiance to the pricing was just right—hands down one of the best-value meals I’ve had in San Antonio.

I heard they were featured in a Netflix documentary, and now I know why. But honestly? The real-life experience surpasses anything a screen can capture. I’ll definitely be back—Las Trompas is now my go-to spot in...

I am not able to rate the food since my family and I were not there long enough to get our order. My wife, 2 year old son and I decided to give this place a try, but we were very disappointed with the customer service. Our 2 year old has some dietary restrictions and is his food choices are limited. We decided to bring his food with us that my wife made so we could eat together. While we waited for our food my wife began to feed our son and shortly after one of the waitresses told us we could not bring outside food in, (totally understandable if an adult or young child brings a burger or a pizza to eat inside), we told the waitress the food was for our son and that it was prepared at home by my wife only to be told that didn’t matter and we had to out our food away. We decided to leave the place and went straight to Taquitos West 2nd and enjoyed some good tacos along with our son. Not going back to this place and sticking to places were families...

From the very first bite, we knew Los Trompos Tacos de Barrio was something special. We tried the green pastor, regular pastor, and sirloin tacos, and every single one was incredible. The meat was tender, juicy, and cooked to absolute perfection, packed with flavor and freshness in every bite. What really sets this place apart is the amazing service. Our server James was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. And then there’s Jorge ā€œDon Tacoā€, who came by our table to greet us personally, warm, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel like family. That kind of hospitality is rare and unforgettable. You can tell that everyone here takes pride in what they do, from the kitchen to the front of the house. Los Trompos isn’t just a taco spot, it’s an experience that took me back to Mexico. If you love authentic flavor, top-notch service, and good vibes all around, this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be...

This place had generated a lot of buzz, but my experience left much to be desired. The tacos, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The meat was a bit dry and surprisingly bland, lacking the flavorful punch that great tacos are known for. The tortillas were barely warm, which detracted from the overall experience. I almost feel they were warmed up in a microwave. I know this is highly unlikely, but I say to give you a description you can better understand. The torta was another disappointment. It was overloaded with cheese to the point where it overwhelmed the other ingredients, making it difficult to enjoy the balance of flavors that a good torta should offer. Overall, this place didn't live up to the hype for me. There are better options in San Antonio for those seeking a more satisfying and flavorful taco experience. Also, highly overpriced.
