I wish I could be leaving a review for the food, but my family and I did not even make it that far. I was excited to bring my house full of pancake lovers to this place. I had read reviews and had planned for breakfast here Friday morning. I opened the door to the restaurant first and I saw immediately two young girl hostess/waitress’. Their faces the minute they saw me were not happy nor pleasant to say the least. It was if my presence offended them. The minute I guess they had digested me, my kids followed in and their faces changed to surprised, then my husband entered. Those faces then looked angry and reoffended. I ignored them since it was my time with my family and asked for a table for four. They did not address me or my family, they simply looked at each other and shrugged as if they couldn’t be bothered to help let alone serve us. At that point my children saw their faces and unwarranted behavior as well as my husband. The minute my husband saw those faces twisted in disdain he looked at me and said let’s go. Maybe as a company you should have a mature adult at the front where you greet customers. Instead you seem to have people who decide who they will treat with basic human decency. Not old enough to know that every customer matters. I work in a car dealership. I assure you, every customer matters. What I do recommend is Guenther’s! Once we got back to the car I found a fabulous little spot called Guenther’s House . Their food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Guenther’s was everything you could hope for in a...
Read moreWent to the Donaldson location this morning, and I am very disappointed in the service I received. I placed an order to go, and also ordered a coffee to go. I was told my order would take 20 minutes to prepare, so I asked for my coffee in advance of the order being complete. There is nowhere to prepare the coffee, (cream/sugar) so I asked to let me go the the back countertop bar, (where customers nomally eat but was empty) to fix my coffee. I was told I could not prepare my coffee there. I was also told that they will bring the coffee to me and I will need to prepare it on the ledge of a half-wall. They ended up giving me the coffee to prepare on their actual cash drawer, as the table on the other side of that half wall had customers, and there was nowhere else to prepare my coffee. Further, I waited 40 minutes for my food, not 20 minutes. When I got home, one of the sandwiches beef was so extremely overcooked, I had to throw it away.
I am stunned that a customer would not be allowed to prepare a coffee at a counter space that was empty, no customers, particulary when they are charging me extra just to take an order to go. A 40 minute was time for a restaurant that never all tables taken my entire wait, coupled by the fact that one of my orders had to be thrown out because it was so overcooked, is simply unacceptable!
What is sad is that I have patronized this location for the last 7 years, despite the fact that their food is generally just okay, because the are literally right around the corner from my home. However, after today's experience, I will never return to...
Read moreI used to go to Pancake Joe's a lot when I lived closer to this location, and I was super excited when I had an event to attend in the area bc it gave me a chance to revisit one of my favorite breakfast spots. My partner's sister arrived early to get our name on the list, and I was shocked when she said there wasn't a wait. Once we got our food, I knew why there wasn't a wait. Of the 5 plates ordered, 2 were sent back. My all time favorite, Eggs Benedict, had what seemed to be hollandaise sauce from a jar. It was thick and had a funky flavor. The Chicken and Waffle looked like a there were a couple of HEB fully Cooked chicken strips tossed on top of a waffle that was made at a hotel continental breakfast...bland and boring. The "egg whites" were speckled with yoke. They claimed they were egg whites, and if so...maybe it was pearls of butter that didn't melt down...I dunno, but my partner wasn't digging into it either way. The egg omelette was severely overcooked..the top and bottom looked like the crust of a pan pizza. They remade it only for it to look the same way and they said it was cooked right, even asked what was wrong with it. I showed them the white cooked egg on my eggs Benedict vs. the brown scalded crust of the omelett, but they insisted it wasn't overcooked. Other than the lady who didn't think the omelett was overcooked, the wait staff was great. My final take away, I don't know what changed, but it's not the joint it used to be. Although this was our fav spot, there are so many places closer to us that are willing to do it right , and we won't go back to...
