T J's Hamburgers — Restaurant in San Antonio

The Saturday before Father's day, beautiful warm day. I was picked up by both my adult sons and when asked where to for our first Father's day lunch together in more than 15yrs, only one place I had been craving for when I was living in RI, a totally awesome tasting double cheeseburger with bacon and wanted from only one very long lasting landmarks on the Southside and that's TJ's Hamburgers, the cheeseburger of my youth. First surprise waiting for me, a completely new brand new building and dining area. Gone was the small ordering station/pickup area, gone was the often warm dining area that was desperately trying to be cooled by one walled installed air conditioning unit 110v ,one loosely installed swamp cooler or also referred to as water cooler, and two fans one up by the ceiling and other on opposite side by the a/c. All of it, gone torn down, demolished end of an Era. In it's place, brand new fully modernized kitchen and dining room, fully cooled off, no sweating here. Most amazing of all in my personal opinion, the same great taste that's the signature of this establishment that goes back to what I always believe was the 1950s when it's doors open for first time. My particular sense of Nostalgia was like having a stroke it was in overdrive. Wonderful and special thing bout the senses of taste and smell, above all these two senses have that ability to allow time travel to happen in the mind. For me that first bite did exactly that, 40yrs fast forward past me as a flood of memories got tuned in within my thoughts. We really enjoyed ourselves there on that day. The service is horrible I went in on a Sunday and when I walked up to the counter the girl walked away even though she saw me and wh and pretended to be mixing the tea dispenser I stood there and there was a guy on the phone so I thought he was going to be helping me and when he hung up the phone he also walked away. finally the girl came over and just stood there staring at me it did not ask me if she could help me or anything and I finally said are you ready for me to give you my order she looks at me with a very bad attitude and then the guy came back and he was answering the phone again and when I start giving the girl my order he hands her the phone and she completely ignores me and starts talking on the phone. I asked the guy why no one was answering the phone I had tried to call for the last hour and he told me when they are short staff or busy they do not answer the phone there was five employees there in the restaurant was empty. do yourself a favor if you're looking for a great old fashioned Burger with a buttered bun I would recommend Burger boy their service is great. I wonder if the owner even looks at these reviews he needs to be aware what is going on in his restaurant. this is not the first time I've gotten bad service at TJ's but I finally had enough they need to realize that no matter if they have a good product if the service is bad people will...

Iv been coming here, since a kid, when was a little spot, where gas station is now, Always been the most juicy, tasty burgers, and now I moved way closer, other day I called in order, triple meat, just Melo, and med fries, and when got home, was only a double meat, but I called them and gentleman I spoke with was we make it good, so few days gone by, on my way home call insane order, and I just mentioned to girl working there about what happened but it didn't bother me, I am back, I need my Awesome triple meat berger, and fries, when was gonna pay it was only $4 something, im likefor my triple, she like Yes, we messed up your order, now we making it right, I was like I thought I could at least pay for double meat, she like nope we making it good, that goes to show you, no matter How Long, TJs been there, They Have ALWAYS Put Customer Service 1st, iv been eating there burgers since when I was like 10 years old, and food has Always been so Amazing, Full of taste, and will Always draw me back, now matter if I had a 40 min drive to get my food, I was doing it... now im closer, so will be going Alot More, as if Anyone has not tryed there food, Please, no matter how far, it will be worth the ride, as they Always, ALWAYS used the best beef, not no cheap beef, I highly recommend TJs, as if want a juicy old fashion berger, got...
