This place was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend & her family have been coming for years but this was my first time ever! Great service seems harder & harder to find lately so it was such a pleasant experience to be treated great by authentic, hard-working people. The whole restaurant had small-town, family owned vibe which gave our casual Saturday night dinner out a wonderful experience. We got there as the place was experiencing a dinner rush. We were asked to wait for ten minutes to order so the kitchen could catch up. Everyone was extremely friendly so it was easy to take the time to study the menu. We order a classic pepperoni za (pictured), the half Caesar to split & the sweet chili glazed wings (not pictured). The wings & salad came out promptly & were absolutely fantastic. Both dishes were fresh & delicious. This must be a scratch kitchen because the flavors were real-salad croutons were homemade, wing sauce was scrumptious! Finally the pizza was definitely fresh & real. The outdoor seating area was great. Live music was playing which made the ambiance fun & relaxing. Overall this place was great. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through or staying nearby. I will give the caveat about the “garlic rimmed crust” up-charge they offer for a dollar more. The crust was okay but the topping didn’t really add much flavor to the crust. The “upgrade” was very underwhelming & not really worth the extra buck. You won’t miss anything if you skip it. Also, the za is a taddddd greasy when it first comes out. Make sure to ask for extra napkins because these slices can DRIP before you devour the wonderful, delicious pizza you are...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I came in for lunch at Heroes Wood Fire Pizza on our way home from Julian Wednesday 1/4/23. Food was good, I had a pizza and she had chili, coleslaw, and and ended up adding a cornbread muffin to her order. She is gluten intolerant and didn't realize that the chili is made with flour oh well... Anyways when they brought the cornbread muffin I warned her that it would also have flour in it. She didn't realize that so I told her I would eat it. I took one bite and told the server that it tasted like the flat top grill that they browned it on and asked for one that wasn't heated that way. A few minutes later a younger guy came out and said that it was his restaurant and in five years nobody had ever complained and that they all tasted it in the kitchen and agreed it didn't taste like the flat top! Then he said that he wouldn't take the time to prepare me another one. No offer to reimburse the cost (around $4). Definitely turned an otherwise okay lunch into a serious disappointment with his attitude! Hope he figures out that you should treat people how you want to be treated (Golden Rule). Easy stuff and Karma can be rough! Good food questionable service with a...
Read moreMy first time to the region with my husband. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and WOW WAS THE RECOMMENDATION 100% worth it!!!
We decided on the “wood fired lasagna” and everything about it was EXCEPTIONAL! The portion size was generous and the staff was AMAZING!
We found out that it is a family run business and you can definitely tell!!! There is so much love and care put into absolutely everything in this wonderful establishment.
There was live music playing on an “open mic night” the entertainment was outstanding and the safe and fun feeling made it all the better.
My husband and I live somewhat local (about 30 miles away) and I can tell you that this is definitely going to be a bi-weekly if not weekly dinner date night!!!
The beautiful mountain surroundings as well as the beautiful historic town combined with the great Military Memorabilia that decorate the walls is a welcome tribute to all of our great Military Heroes!
Thank you for such a wonderful experience and we will be telling everyone we know about this fantastic...
