This wasn't our initial stop. Every time we travel we seek out the best donuts in the city. Although a subjective topic, we generally get a good recommendation everywhere we go, and haven't yet been disappointed. However, when we got to our stop the smells coming from La Nueva Mexican Bakery brought us in the door. Holy moley. We come from a town of excellent panaderias and we are picky, but this one was right up there with the sheer diversity of choices, and each one was exceedingly tasty.    Read moreThe sweet bread is the best! Better than the big-store supermarket bakeries. It tastes fresh and has a very natural sweet flavor. I love their conchas, their puerquitos, and their cuernitos. So yummy!
Their tamales are bomb, too. They don't skimp on the filling, which is what a lot of places do, unfortunately. But not here, they pack the tamales full of meat or cheese - whatever flavor you're getting, you'll be sure to get your money's worth. I saw they also sell burritos and tortas.
