Pazzo's Pizza — Restaurant in San Diego

We stopped by this pizza spot for a casual dinner and left with mixed feelings. The food itself was really solid — we ordered three calzones (each packed and flavorful), a generous serving of buffalo chicken wings, and garlic cheese bread that hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out hot and timely.

The ambiance is just okay — not bad, but nothing special. It’s a decent spot to sit and eat, though it feels more geared toward takeout or delivery.

The biggest downside, and the reason for the lower rating, was the pricing. The dine-in printed menu listed prices that were $2–$3 cheaper than what showed up on the electronic board (which is what we were ultimately charged). When we brought it up, there wasn’t much of an explanation. It felt misleading and took away from an otherwise good experience.

I give this place its credit for the simple fact they do what they do very well. Improvement in the salads can be made but pizza is their strong point. Best cheese, fair sauce with great dough. Not to mention the amount of toppings is very generous. Beers are good although i dont drink. Growing up here has shown me that change is good but things that remain the same are precious. People here are neighborhood kids and friends. No uniforms and relaxed family management makes this place the best in town. Sure service is sometimes lacking but they try hard and treat you like friends. Regular customers are die hard loyal and those who come in for the food are happy people. As the first time customer, I wanted to give local business a chance. I had incited some guests for dinner. I ordered my meal at 7:40 pm and asked for delivery at 9pm. At 8:50 pm, I received a call from the owner that they were out of chicken and could not make two of the pizzas I ordered. I emphasized that I ordered my meal at 7:40 and not 15 minutes ago and why was I not told then. The owner said he did not care and I could cancel my order. He showed No remorse of apologies for this. Finally, I asked him to substitute the chicken with meat and he said he had some frozen meat that he could use. They finally delivered a very poor quality pizza around 9:40pm.
