This is a fairly typical cafe but with a bigger dining area akin to a Denny's. As others have stated, it does look smaller on the outside than it actually is. Parking is either on the street or in the lot across. They offer wi-fi but be aware it's open, no password needed (as I'm finding with a lot of local establishments). We felt the prices were a bit high overall. Loved that they had nice hot water in the restroom to wash your hands with! Seat yourself when you walk in. There is lots of wood finishes so it is a bit darker inside with the only natural light coming from front and back windows, but gives it a cozy feeling. We were there before the lunch rush, around after 10AM. We ordered breakfast while commers after us ordered lunch and got theirs and finished before us. When we inquired, the waitress explained the gentleman at the counter had meatloaf and mashed and that it simply needed to be warmed up. Made sense (wondering if it were microwaved now) but the other couple guys a table over had sandwhiches/burgers & fries so I felt it was a poor excuse. I would have had more respect for a simple explanation. Despite that, we were satisfied with our meals. It came out in waves. My Mom was very happy with her eggs ordered medium and stated this is the first time anyone cooked them perfectly! Her hashbrowns were a bit over crispy while mine seemed to have been just right. Her pancake was neither fluffy/cake-like nor deflated and rubbery but somewhere in the middle, as she likes them. I enjoyed my french toast as it was done also somewhat in the middle of doneness but with the small slices could have used another. The bacon was a bit rubbery for my taste, not crisp. I could cut it with a fork and eat it that way. As others have also commented, there was a good amount of grease used, reminiscent of how my grandma used to cook it all in one cast iron pan. Great flavor, just be aware if you are cutting out fats. The coffee was good, a brand I had not heard of before but we could have used warm ups a little more often. They don't offer real cream nor sugar substitutes. When I inquired on the yummy looking cookies and asked when they had been made, I was informed on the date and it had been approximately 2 weeks ago and was promptly offered to purchase a box of Girl Scout cookies (thin mints were the first to sell out of course) from the window counter instead. I suggest asking the made date before ordering dessert. It all comes down to your taste and preferences as everything is subjective. All in all, it was a decent and relaxing breakfast. It's a 50/50 decision for me on returning more often/again.

Quick getaway from the cities and decided we wanted to eat. Saw the reviews and some pics of the food - decided we had to try it ourselves (and it just so happens to be my name!) Amy's did not disappoint- great tasting food in healthy portions for a great price! I had the #1 with Chicken fried steak and cranberry wild rice toast. Amazing! I asked where I could buy the bread because it was so amazing. She actually had an extra load on hand in her freezer and she sold it to me! If you're in the area and you're hungry - you gotta try this place. Service was friendly, atmosphere was warm, and regulars seemed to be treated like family. Looking forward to the next time!

Small town Cafe - just how I like it. Breakfast served all day! I ordered the Vegeie Omelet, while the rest of the table ordered the Tuna Melt and the Turkey Club. Our waiter (Dylan) said it was his first day as a waiter. Very pleasant! The kitchen staff also popped out - equally pleasant. The food was very good - the staff accommodating. Truly ambassadors of the business and Sandstone!

WOW so disappointed as we thought today's is our anniversary and due to raising grandchildren we decided to go out and eat steak and eggs for breakfast thinking we were going to have a great anniversary breakfast until after waiting over 30+ minutes for our meal how greasy can it get.. what we ordered was definitely not what we got.. I thought about putting a picture of our meal but I am not trying to shame anyone just putting a honest review.. our hash browns were so hard not crispy..we ordered with onions which wasn't in the hash browns but sitting in grease on the side of the hash browns, our egg's came out dirty Crispy on the edges again greasy..our toast was also swimming in butter and lastly the steak wasn't super delicious but very small and overly cooked in grease.. Yes I deserve to complain as well as I Did say something to the waitresses especially after paying the amount we Did..we accepted the apology that it's not always like that as well as we were not interested in a New order of hash browns to go..we felt at least Free coffee would of been nice but we just got the Bill of Grease..we will not try again to eat here..our money is just as important as well as being served a fresh healthy breakfast so there's no way we will give our money again to this business and it's really too bad.. I am not sure if the good cook's retired or what but there's no way I would have served my customers the way they served us!! I guess that's what we paid for the waste of having to toss it out..we were so hungry we had to eat something so The small steak and eggs we at least ate but the rest no way could stomach it .. now we sit with heartburn and we know why..GREASE!!!! I know nothing will change because of my review and we all have our opinions but I don't put reviews unless it's that bad...we are not interested in throwing away our money so we will not be back again.. I honestly hope the cook's reflect on everything as in the restaurant business that's where it starts is in the kitchen.. UPDATE: I appreciate your response and we ordered our steak's WELL done as well as our plates were not empty like you stated..we waited along time to get our food and if you really read My review it says exactly what we ate off our plates vs what we also didn't eat and left on our plates.. so for you to even say we ate everything isn't the truth...Thanks for...

BAD FOOD I will never eat here again. I ordered a french dip type sandwich. I had eaten 1/3 and all of a sudden realized there was something in the juice that should not have been. I picked it out it was about 3-4 inches by 2 21/2 inches, semi solid, it was all furry, I almost threw up. I called the waitress over. I said what is this, she said I don't know. I said get me new juice. She never apologized or said a word. She brought me new juice, but instead of dark brown juice it was clear with a pink tinge. Needless to say I did not eat it. What are these people thinking. Are you kidding me. I got up and went to pay the bill. Never did offer me the option of non payment. These people must be greedy and ignorant. My father owned a restaurant for over 30 yrs. He was a gracious owner. When mistakes were made it was always free with no questions. I should have not only not paid, I should have gotten a free dinner another time. I believe to this day it was a mouse. I do not believe this is a clean place. I can't believe that when the juice was partially gone I saw this and also a solid ring around of something around the little container that holds the juice. As a 65 yr. old women who has been cooking for 50 yrs. I know this was not fresh. We live in Askov we drive to Duluth to eat or Pine City. Do not eat here. Its the grossest thing I've ever encountered in a restaurant. I'm immune suppressed if I would have gotten sick from this I would have sued their butts off. My husband and I eat out 2 times a week. We have never gone back...
