If you've read my other posts you will see that my wife and I like going on Mystery trips. A Mystery trip is going somewhere and eating at a restaurant that we've never visited before so the "mystery" is 'will the food be good or not'.
I'm a private pilot and have flown into the Sandusky airport on several occasions with friends and have eaten at various restaurants in the town of Sandusky. My wife is a non-flyer so we drove 1 1/2 hours to Sandusky to try out a restaurant that I haven't been to yet.
Their menu is simple, not too many items on it which I've found out usually means better quality (tasting) food.
I would rate what we ordered 2 1/2 stars out of five stars. I ordered the Stuffed Cabbage and Tomato Basil soup, my wife ordered a Reuben and Broccoli Cheese soup. My soup came out hot and it was good, my wife's soup was not hot at all and didn't have much "cheese" taste to it and was almost watery. The stuffed cabbage was ok, it had a thick sauce on it that somewhat altered the taste of the cabbage, my wife said her reuben was very good.
Two ladies sitting near us ordered hamburgers and the hamburgers looked delicious - that's probably what I should have ordered.
Our waitress was very friendly and the dining area was homey and comfortable. Would I try the restaurant again - yes, perhaps for breakfast but if I visited for lunch or dinner I'd for sure get...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend were looking for a place to eat after finding out our normal Chinese spot was closed. When we pulled up we knew we were skeptical but trusted it and walked in and all I have to say is, it felt like I was at my grandma’s family dinners again, we both have really bad social anxiety or in other words we have a hard time talking to new people but they didn’t call us out on it and instead respected us and our presence. The food was cooked perfectly, I had spaghetti and my girlfriend had a bbq pulled pork sandwich, the sandwich was amazing and the pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the bun was home made and tasted amazing, and the Mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The spaghetti had perfectly cooked noodles and the sauce was probably some of the best I’ve ever had, and they give perfect portions of the garlic bread to clean your plate afterwards. The atmosphere was relaxing and calm and I felt like I could sit there for hours and chat. By far one of the best food experiences I’ve had and I will definitely be coming back to try more of their home cooked delicious food and there...
Read moreFirst I want to say the little boy who waited on us was so sweet and you could tell when we came in they were overwhelmed and probably just finished with a rush of people. They truly are trying, we just weren't impressed with the food at all and I don't think everyone is meant to serve food to the public. The wait was so long that another table before us had to take their food to go by the time it was done and I'm not sure why but another couple received their food and got up and walked out without eating anything. The patty melts were pretty decent with a thick burger but fries were thin, burnt and soggy, the eggs were loaded with pepper (some people don't like pepper , that should be up to the customer to put on in my opinion), every piece of toast was burnt, the sausage tasted like old grease, the hash brown serving size with the breakfast was like two bites and they were cold and half raw. I do think they were trying, just maybe not their calling. That's just my opinion, I was a little disappointed about the amount of money we spent on food to take it home and feed...
