Bad service. Food was actually decent but they didn’t have much in the way of gluten free options. This could have been a great concept, but they missed the mark big time. Missed more than a few times. This was our first time trying this so didn’t know how it worked. It was confusing because the concept tries to lean towards less service, but didn’t have the proper techniques implemented in order to make it work seamlessly. The service was all around terrible! We were ignored when we entered, not sure if we seated ourselves. We were only finally seated when flagging someone down. There was zero indication of how this worked. My husband has food allergies and In-laws are vegetarian. We were met with an eye roll, and contempt in the servers vague explanation when just making sure that certain dishes were safe. The place was loud, people letting their children bang on the tables, etc. We asked to move to the back section where it was more peaceful, and they moved us almost there but not quite. Turns out we realized that was because it was reserved for servers to enjoy their meals. Definitely won’t be coming back. Sad because the food was good, just not good enough to have go through all of that. If you want to make the no service, service situation work out go eat at a restaurant that nails it. Bar taco nailed it. I’m not a big fan of this style of restaurant but Bar Taco nailed it from start to finish, including the takeout. It’s been done very efficiently while still feeling like if I needed help I can still get it. Somehow, time and again they get my business even though I’m not a fan of the no service, service. Send upper management there so you can see how they implemented everything. Then you will have a chance at making this concept work. I don’t know though, seems like a lot of people were okay with it. Maybe I’m a Karen. Maybe too many years in the Food n Bev industry. I just feel like when I’m spending money to eat out, I don’t want to cook or serve myself. I want it to better than what I can get or do at home. To me, the service is what makes it memorable. Good food is a plus but if the service sucked that overshadows the food, and taints the...
Read moreI have always heard great things about Food Terminal from friends ever since they first popped up in Atlanta but have yet to go experience it for myself. Well, that all changed today when I finally ventured out to the Sandy Springs location to try for myself what all my friends have been raving about and let me tell you, it was worth the drive out. The location is in a nice spot, not too far away from the hustle and bustle, but in a quaint area free from the noise. Plenty of shopping nearby also if that's your bag. The service was impeccable. The staff make you feel welcome upon arrival and throughout the dining experience. Whole place is fresh and clean like it just opened yesterday. But enough about all that, let's get to the good stuff, the food. They have a great selection of various Asian cuisines. Even the pickiest eater will be able to find something to love. My favorite part was the vegetarian options. They have plenty to choose from when it came to those. I started with the shrimp and pork rolls as my appetizer. They were delectable and will become a staple for me. The salt and pepper chicken bites were my next victim. Loved that they only had a hint of flavor so that you can dip them to your heart's content in the delicious sauce they're provided with. For my main course I went with the curry tofu. It was amazing and will be my go to for sure. Finished the whole meal off with a mango dessert that truly hit the spot. Overall, this place is an amazing addition to the Sandy Springs area and I can't wait for my next excursion there. 10/10, will...
Read moreFood Terminal is, in my opinion, one of the most stand-out must-try restaurants in the Atlanta area. There are multiple locations, I have been to 3 of them repeatedly and the experience is always consistent and excellent. If you are not familiar with Malaysian cuisine, it is one of the best in the world. I know that is subjective, but beef rendang is ranked as one of the best foods in the world, and they make an excellent one here. Beyond their traditional heritage foods, Malaysia has absorbed a lot of Indian and Chinese influence over the years, so it has amalgamated into something that hits all of the notes. The menu is a full color magazine with pictures and descriptions of everything, it's fun to look at and super helpful. You fill in your order on a piece of preprinted paper, and you're on your way! Service is generally quick, and a robot may even bring out a fun drink or dessert. The kitchen area is mostly open concept, which adds to the feeling that this is a clean, above-board restaurant with nothing sketchy happening. I will say that my favorites and go-to are the beef rendang and grandma's bbq pork, but the hainanese chicken rice and curry chicken noodle soup or szechuan beef noodle soup are also hitting the spot when the mood strikes. I can never pass up a roti or the szechuan steamed dumplings. It would be difficult to go wrong here, the only thing wrong you can do is not come try...
