La Haciendita — Restaurant in Sanger

The food is generally pretty good...not great but all things considered it's pretty good. I'm in Sanger all the time so I go there often; often enough that they know me by name. Tonight I went in and ordered something that I haven't ordered there before, "flautas"...rolled tacos. I was asked what kind of meat and I said chicken. I then asked if this dish came with rice and beans...I was told "yes it does". My wife and I clearly heard the response. When I got the bill I had a $5.98 charge for rice and beans. I thought it must have been a mistake as I had clearly asked about that before I ordered. As often as we go in there for lunch or dinner I thought that certainly they would just apologize and take the charge off my bill...after all I'm in there all the time, and for the tiny little "dab" of rice and beans, nobody would pay $5.98!!! But no!!! The waitress said" well you got five rolled tacos and most places only give you three...and anyway, I thought you said to add rice and beans on. This is the kind of thing that really gets under my skin. She could see that I wasn't happy about the error and SHE was the one who made the mistake! This is the last time I'll even go inside that place. They got me for $5.98 but they lost a longtime customer...

My husband and I ordered menudo with pata. The menudo was barely warm and the pata was too tough and was inedible. The kids ordered the sope dinner & a large asada quesadilla (under appetizers). The shredded beef and beans were bland and could use more flavor. The quesadilla was decent but they didn't give any sour cream or guacamole until we asked about them leaving it off the plate. Do keep in mind the waitress said the quesadilla came with sour cream and guacamole. The restaurant was not too busy to blame it on that. The food was not hot at serving time. When we told the waitress about our food issues all she did was say sorry and made no effort to remedy the problems. We loved coming to this place but we will never be back. Don't waste your time...

I’ve been going here for 2 years now and I can honestly say, they’re pretty inconsistent with food and customer service especially. However, there’s a young guy that works there at night and he looks like he practically runs the place, he always has to tell the waitresses how to do their jobs and keep reminding them AND he has GREAT customer service, so he is one exception. Other than that, I just drive to Fresno, there’s NO Mexican restaurants worth eating at here in Sanger which is very sad because I’m pretty sure more than half the population is Mexican or Latino so you’d think somebody would be able to make some decent food and at least be a little polite, but...
