So this place used to be my favorite uncut gem for about a 20 mile radius, we would come here often (a few times a month) because it was affordable and the portions were great. They also used real ingredients and the steaks were always cooked properly (my wife orders blue rare so it gets messed up a lot).
Last night was the last time I will be dining in this establishment. Evidently they have new management and they have made a lot of changes that I absolutely 100% disagree with. Instead of fixing the user experience and creating an atmosphere people would like to be in, they have adopted the typical large chains restaurant credo of put as many butts in the seats as possible and make the meal as cheap as possible while charging almost double. It's so disgusting to see such a wonderful product destroyed by poor management decisions.
I'll go through each meal that we had and discuss the difference that has occurred in the last 2 months.
I got the hoss, usually my go-to meal here. The steak was $16.99, it's now $22.99. I understand inflation is a big deal, so I can understand the price increase if you're giving the same product in return. This was not the case. The steak was the same, but the sides are not the same quality, and even though they added fried eggs to the menu which would be a huge booster, you can't get them as a side. So you have to pay $1.99 for each egg that you want on your plate. I eat the carnivore diet, every single side that I want is $1.99 up charge, even though I just want to replace the original sides because they don't offer anything that is remotely keto friendly without the up charge. I believe two eggs would probably equate to the same cost of any other side. They were going to put on the plate, so this seems ridiculous to me. I'm pretty sure plenty of people would agree with my thought process here.
My wife got the same thing that I did, she always gets double mixed vegetables, unfortunately that's just a bag of frozen veggies that you get at Walmart now... Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and they're not cooked. Well they're just steamed in a bag it seems.... Definitely not worth $27 (we got the 20oz upgrade since we only eat meat).
The kids hamburger was an absolute icon, it was large and meaty, typically cooked well and served fresh. Tonight, both of my children got that because it's what we always get.... It was a great value. They replaced it with a frozen Patty that is about the size of an In-N-Out Burger. He wasn't even edible, honestly it tasted less like meat and more like soy or whatever oil they're using to cook now.
That leads me to the worst part of all of this, they used to use real whipped butter and we would get a side of that with our steaks. She brought me out of a bowl of what looked like mayonnaise.... It was margarine. They literally increased the prices 30% and decreased the value of the product that they're giving in every way possible. The sides aren't as good, the ingredients are absolutely not what they were, and this is unacceptable by most terms for anyone dining in a restaurant.
We typically came here and my family of four would eat for around $50. Last night my total bill was $88 and I was not unhappy about the price, I'm disgusted by the quality. I understand having to increase the price, but you don't decrease your product quality while increasing the price.
As a consistent staple in our diet locally, we will no longer be eating here. It's not just the food. They took away the dance floor and replaced it with more tables to fit more people in, they reduced the quality of the product and increase the price, and if you don't have a 4x4 pickup. Good luck actually getting in here and parking, and then getting out..... They didn't fix the parking lot which has been a solid 2/10 for the last two years. But the good news is they can get more butts in seats if you're actually willing to come here and eat this poison.... You just may have to walk from the street where you have to park.
Shame on you guys for ruining something...

We actually drove up from Dallas and we won't be back again.
Upon arrival, outside and entryway are very dated and in disrepair.
Hostess stand was being ignored so it took a while for my party along with the other 3 parties to be seated. When finally acknowledged was told that they had just had a big rush and were swamped. Waitresses also acted like they were overwhelmed despite there being 4-5 of them for only 10 tables. There were also several other employees (kitchen, hostess, walking around, etc.) so the issues I'm going to describe are 100% not due to be short-staffed.
Most employees were standing around chatting or on their phones in the kitchen, ignoring tables. This was visible from both the table and the slide area. The only visible guy on staff spent his time in the kitchen following around one girl and scratching his privates every two minutes.
We were greeted right away once being seated but it then took 10 minutes to get drinks we ordered. We then put in our order. 30 minutes later and it dawns on our waitress to check in on us and our apps. They came out burnt about 10 minutes later. About 5 minutes after that, the waitresss informs us that one of the requested sides for dinner was unavailable. (This is about 45 minutes after our order, if you're keeping up.) One single dinner comes up for a table of 6 about 15 minutes later. Kitchen gal says our waitresss must have input the orders separately??
About this time, it's closing time but two other tables come in. Maybe 15 minutes later, we get three more dishes. I inquire about the other two including a salad that never came out. 5 minutes later, the waitress comes out flushed to try to "fix the situation" and asks for the other two orders again. We weren't given any details but it appears that her ticket was lost. Here's the great part, instead of expediting our two missing plates (that were for children, by the way), the other two tables that just came in got their food first and we are still waiting. There's a girl cleaning up and she wants to take away our empty plates, I ask her to inquire on our 2 missing plates. She seems startled that I would ask but agrees. A while later, no updates so we actually walk up to the kitchen to get an update and ask for a refill. Another 10-15 minutes later and we finally get those last two plates. Since we see our waitress so rarely, we ask for the check so we can pay while the kids finish up.
Food: Sides were old/frozen and reheated; nothing fresh. Steaks weren't bad.
No discount for our atrocious wait and service. No visit from any manager to apologize or follow up. Absolutely ridiculous. Staff needs to be trained; kitchen needs to learn how to properly expedite; manager on site needs to manage the staff and...
Read moreAmy Lindholm previously wrote a review, she's my mother, now it's my turn. Oh how I wish google had NEGATIVE STAR RATINGS. We are from Colorado, where there was a fantastic Trail Dust location, so finding one in TX was awesome because we wanted to take my daughter there for her 2nd birthday and have her experience the slide. She had on a t shirt that said, "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" our server didn't acknowledge this at all, which to me, seemed rude since you should take the time and know why a party of 10 was there in the first place. We drove 45 minutes from McKinney to go to Trail Dust and let me tell you, it was such a disappointment. Where to begin. Our server, though nice, never actually inquired as to what are issues were. Not one of us finished our complete meal. My husbands meal was completely inedible. My dad's dinner, was edible, but not without trying to stomach the disgusting look and taste of canned mushrooms, and "steak" fries that were more like frozen fries that were NOT cut steak style or even edible. My 2 year old daughter even turned her nose to the fries. Have I mentioned that we drove 45 minutes? My meal was downright disgusting. My steak was over cooked (I ordered med, and it came out almost completely well done) my potatoes were cold, and my shrimp was chewy and over seasoned. The best part about the food was the Dr. Pepper. Our server kept asking, "Everything okay over here?" and though I wasn't willing to send my meal back (and have to wait another 30 min), I nodded with a "not really" look on my face. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my entire family, but he NEEDED to have noticed that not one of us finished our meals and asked, "I've noticed yall aren't really eating, is there something I can fix?" Then we get to the slide. The narrow, sticky, creaky stairs, didn't have a safety handrail and it was difficult for the kiddos to get up them safely. When I took my daughter down the slide, the bottom of the slide ends just before the kitchen and server walkway so unless you stop yourself, you run the risk of getting stepped on by waitstaff. After you've gotten your hands sticky from the slide, you would expect to go to the bathroom and wash your hands. Nope. Go to the closest gas station and you'll probably find cleaner bathrooms. Multiple times I saw our server standing at the bar, chatting up some girl that had her legs all propped up on a nearby stool. I mentioned we drove almost an hour right?! As I sit here and write this, I want to call the restaurant and have them refund my money. I want my wasted $45 dollars back for that joke of a dinner I ordered. Save your money and cook at home, or go to a TRUE...
