Visited Uri's on a Saturday night. Haven't been there in a while and thought it would be a nice place for a nice dinner. Had to wait for a table that was expected. Was seated and waitress arrived in a reasonable time. Asked some questions about how food was prepared and was concerned when told there is only 1 fryer both Chicken and Fish they both are cooked in the same grease. For some that is a big turn off so instead burgers were agreed upon. Placed our order 2 burgers, 1 grilled chicken, 1 chicken strip and I perch dinner. It took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive and both burgers were so charred they looked like briquettes. Chicken strip and perch were fine but even the grilled chicken was a little bit over done. Sent burgers back and was told it would be another 15 to 20 minutes to get new ones. Asked for Manager. Manager arrived at table and stated she understood there was a problem and what could be done. We couldn't understand why it would take another 15 to 20 minutes to redo the hamburgers, she let us know that the kitchen is very tiny and they cook all hamburgers from frozen. I was shocked that the burger is frozen when it starts to cook. She said she would get them out as soon as possible and she would remove them from the bill plus give 2 pieces of cheesecake on the house. We stated we really didn't want anything else but she insisted she wanted to make things right. The burgers arrived and again quite a bit of char and very dry and tasteless. We held out hope for the cheese cake but why would you have a Creme Brule cheesecake and not Brule it before serving. I hate leaving bad reviews but this is a bar sized kitchen and owners trying to be a high end restaurant based on location. Maybe when the next set of owners take over we can try it again. Even Wendy's never cooks...

The new owners have remodeled making the restaurant more intimate yet not overly formal. The ambiance is a perfect blend of sophistication and comfort, and the waterfront view has to be one of the best in the state of Michigan.
It is evident that the chefs at Uri’s are not only skilled but passionate about their craft. The menu boasts an impressive array of options, catering to various palates and dietary preferences. It consists of comfort foods like bourbon glazed meatloaf with real homemade mashed potatoes and also chicken parmesan or chicken Alfredo. The perch are meaty yellow belly fillets. Sauces and dressings are homemade. There is fish and chips, ribs, burgers, several interesting salads and traditional sandwiches like a Rueben and the classic French dip. Pizza is Detroit style. Prices are very reasonable.
Every dish is nicely presented. The flavor combinations were unexpected yet harmonious, showcasing the chef's ability to think outside the box while still respecting traditional culinary roots. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu and the service is a good balance between attentiveness and giving you space to enjoy your meal and conversations.
Uri’s is a gem that truly understands both the local customers and out of town guests. From the inviting ambiance to the inventive cuisine and top-notch service, every element comes together to create an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking to indulge in a culinary journey that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you with a sense of awe,...
Read moreFirst time at the new Uri's. When I made the reservation for my Wife's Birthday was surprised that the young sounding man who answered the phone pronounced it Ureyes. Was told they closed at 6 PM. Arrived at 4:50 10 minutes ahead of our reservation and were immediately and efficiently escorted to our requested window, (harbor view) table. Were quickly offered water and menus. Soon after asked for a drink order then a food order. Going great so far. Salad arrived at 5:15 then offer for a repeat of bread at 5:40, no original offer of bread had been made. Bread and second wine arrived at 5:45. Food arrived at 5:50. Walleye was cool (not hot), looked good but turned out to be under cooked, had to be cut from skin with a knife and ordered vegetable (asparagus) was not available substitute with zucchini overcooked and way too salty and without prior notification of substitution. Waitress was apologetic and told us the food cost was removed from the bill. Apparently they had some large groups arrive without prior reservations and were not prepared for the business on Sunday evening. Unfortunately since we had made reservations we suffered as a result. Appreciated the deduction from our bill, since we waited so long for food we ran up a $41 bar bill, so we gave the waitress a 20% tip as she did the best she could under the circumstances. Suggestion....serve the reservations first, leave the late comers 'till the end. Could be a good spot, Lord knows we need some, but must look after the customers who follow the rules first. Also got a fish bone stuck in my throat hope it goes away. As a fisherman I know it is possible to fillet walleye without bones, someone needs to teach their suppliers how to do it. Will give it one more try. Hope for the best. Will...
