Hello, I was an employee here for a few months last year. I’d like to share some of the experiences that I had and saw while working in this establishment. When i first started, the manager was very disrespectful and brought his religious beliefs to the work environment and told me that I was ruining my body (that god created) for getting tattoos and piercings. The kitchen is extremely messy and very unsanitary, none of the chefs use gloves, the vegetables they used were moldy, the meat was left out for hours at a time. They didn’t clean the kitchen more than once every 2 weeks. It smelled horrible everyday. The dishes were stacked up next to the dishwasher overnight, sometimes the dishes were there for days. At a point I tried to talk to the owner and manager about another coworker that had made me uncomfortable (I’m 17 and the coworker was in his 50s). I talked to them and they said they’d take care of it but they never did, he would constantly hit on me, make weird comments about the way I looked as a goth presenting girl. My boss told me that it was my makeup that was the problem and he wouldn’t let me wear eyeliner, draw on my eyebrows, I’d have to go to work looking like I just got out of bed. All the costumers loved me because I was different but the staff made it very clear that they didn’t want me working there. So when I had to go to the ER for a medical emergency, the next shift I went to my boss fired me for being “unreliable” when I called out 3 times in the time I was working there. They didn’t send me my final check for 3 months after I got fired. The working environment is very unprofessional, they kitchen is unsanitary, I don’t recommend this...
Read moreWe stopped for lunch at the Pecos Trail Cafe on our way though Santa Fe. We ordered two combination plates and a bowl of green chili stew. While both combo plates were good the green chili stew was the highlight. The rich, brothy, soupy green chili had potato and pork chunks with fresh crispy tortilla straps. It was plesently spicy and completely delicious. The tamales and enchiladas were good and came with beautiful red and green chili sauces. The chili rellano stood out as the best from among our two combo plates. The beans and rice were good, but nothing to write home about, I will say, it was nice to have Spanish rice that wasn't overcooked, they did good there.
Our service was prompt and friendly, the food came out quickly. They even serve a couple sopaipillas with honey for after your meal. The restaurant was slow with only four tables seated. They have plenty of room for larger parties here.
We are glad to have stopped at the Pecos Trail Cafe for lunch!...
Read moreEverything about the Pecos Trail Café is wonderful! My wife and I go whenever we can, and when we can we take our visitors and family members there with us. The food is truly delicious and so well prepared and served in such a friendly, professional manner! The staff is always courteous, and the gentleman who is the owner/manager is always so polite from the moment he greets us as we enter until he bids us farewell when we leave. In the meantime, he comes by our table from time to time not only to check to see if we require anything more, but also to engage us in welcome and friendly conversation. It delights me to say that I happily recommend the Pecos Trail Café to anyone in search of a truly great dining experience without the pretentiousness so often found in so many Santa Fe...
